Thought there may be some interested to see what the Armacoat shake and spray kit can offer in terms of results. IMO, extremely good for $70.

I had the parts I coated sandblasted before so the finish was bare metal and quite rough to the touch. I sprayed about 6 light coats on all surfaces, one or two more light coats on high wear areas. I did NOT tape ANYTHING off. Just stripped the parts down and sprayed them 360 degrees. Everything went back together with NO issues. Gun is smoother now... though I have yet to fire it (its -28 here... im not going outside).

The finish appears a bit shinier than it really is in person. After your done coating and drying its suggested you liberally coat the parts with G36 or something similar so they wear smoothly during the first few runs. The finish is a slightly matte finish. I think I could have got it a bit flatter with some trickery on the last coat but ran out of air in the spray can.

Heres the pics:

A pic with my similarly coated Norc 1911.

Thanks, and yes, its the mini comp. I bought it only because it was cheap when I was building this gun. In terms of muzzle rise mitigation, it helps for sure. But man, it turns this 14inch AR into a flamethrower. The fireballs and subsequent noise is crazy. Looks super cool though and it DOES help with muzzle rise... and its super light. So, all good things if you dont mind the sound.

Nice job, I was wondering how their kits would turn out.
I have a mini comp as well (bead blasted stainless finish) and it was ok on my 14.5 but when I tried it on my 12 inch it was just too much concussion. Definitely helps with recoil and muzzle rise though and the fireball out each side looks cool.

Its actually smoother than before. The armacoat seems to be more slippery than the bare metal and it helps fill in any rough spots. This was the case with my Norc 1911 as well. After coating it was tighter and smoother than before.
