I picked up two 8 ounce bottles of armacoat recently. One black, one olive.

Seems to produce nice results when I remember to put less on.

Anyways, maybe it's just me, but when I follow the mixing instructions, I found that I will soon run out of the hardener, but will have plenty of color left over.

WTF ??? Does the 8 ounce kit have the same little bottle of hardener as the 4 ounce kit?

Interesting, I found the same thing... I think it is because the hardener is so thick (syrup); it'd be much better if more hardener was included in the kit.

Perhaps we could suggest that more be included?

I looked around for some armacoat once and couldn't find it on the net...ended up buying some duracoat from the States (at a high shipping rate) instead. Where did you guys get it?

Is murdoc somehow related to Armacoat?

Maybe he can provide some info as to why I seem to not have enough hardener.

P.S. You right, that stuff is thick. It's tough to get out of the bottle.

There is adequate hardener given to the Arma-Coat finish. If you look at the instuctions 3 teaspoons (15ml or 1/2 oz ) is used for a 4oz bottle, which is the correct amount needed to use the entire bottle at an 8:1 ratio. Measure exact amounts and your hardener bottle will last to the end of the finishing bottle . Of course 8oz's gets an 1oz bottle of hardener which is adequate. Generally I find that people put in too much hardener or they may not be using the proper measuring spoons, or some just throw some in more or less. If you need more let us know. I am the owner of Arma-Coat Firearm finishes and our product is manufactured here in edmonton, so I can help you out with anything you guys need, feel free to call for more info or help. Sorry you guys ran short but don't worry we can fix that problem.

Thanks.

I was using a syringe designed to measure out medicines for babies. it's graduated in 1/4 teaspoons. I thought I was following the directions pretty damn closely. I wonder how I messed up.

I might just have to contact you for more hardener. Thanks for responding to this post.

RELATED: On my first project, I applied to many coats, and decided to start all over, and re-do the peice. I figured I'd just sandblast it again. Holy ####, is Armacoat ever tough stuff !! I don't have the greatest sandblasting setup, but it was good enough to prep metal, and it was a real job to remove the Armacoat yesterday. I am very impressed.

Thanks Schick I am glad you like our product, And no problem on the hardener, you could have been given a bottle that could of been a bit short but anyways we can figure it out, glad to be of any help to you or any other customers out there.

armacoat

New to the forum, however in regards to armacoat ; i just completed my project, Remington 300 ultra mag, was stainless now blacked out new bannister high tech stock olive green/black. I looked around for all sorts of paint,to much bother with getting the stuff out of the States. Went to the gun show in Calgary this year and seen the Amacoat, nice paint indeed!! Very happy with the results. I never had a problem with running short of hardner though. If you need to refinish your firearms i would recommend this product.
