Decided it was time to make my XD look the way it should. I never thought much of the original finish, I had no rust or wear through issues however the quality of the metal finish never impressed me, made the gun look cheap.I purchaced ARMACOAT from Barrett Arms and went to town! I highly recommend their product, I have achieved outstanding results and experimented with adheasion and scratch resistance--impressive!.Heres some pic's. While waiting for the baking process I decided to make a decent and much heavier guide rod ,bore it and fill it with mercury to try and reduce some muzzel flip- havent shot it yet so can't say how much of an improvement it will make, but it looks cool!

Great work man, I am a sucker for some OD guns. IMO that looks much better than the OD Glocks, maybe because the finish looks darker...

What is up with your slide in the first picture, I am a little confused.

Very nice, I am going to look into the armacoat products when I get some things to paint.

I just ordered a bottle of BLACK and OD this morning :D
I am going to do my 870 as soon as the paint arrives... can hardly wait (going to look very sweet).

By the way, nice pistol... much better!!

I've used Armacoat several times in the past and the paint is very durable. I love the stuff.
