Does anyone here own one of these ? If so please let me know what your opinion of it is.

Thanks

I asked a dealer to get me one, he said the USA would not export them. maybe someone else has more information.

Sounds about right :( I forgot all about the paranoia problems the yanks have.

if thats true then it's new to me. I was just talking to my local dealer about them. he said if I had three friends who wanted them, then we'd talk. I don't think he'd be saying that if they were not allowed in canada. (and sorry guys, you have to be in Victoria to make this work.)

Cheers,

they fall under the same catagory as the AR50 as far as their export ban is concerned(and it happend at the same time as all 50's banned for export), and thus we cant get them across the border.

if you can't get it in 338, whats the point? a 308 would be wasted in a 1000+yard setup like that. too bad. guess I'll have to look around at other guns in 338.....

We have better makers right here in Canada (PGW), and their rigs are actually issued to military. Sako's a better gun too IMO, and easily available here.

With all the export bans the yanks have now, they seem to be trying to help us start a Canadian gun manufacturing industry.
Just think how busy Dlask would suddenly be if the US did not allow AR clones to be exported.

I know it is not really worth it to get anything but the 338 lapua but it only has a 26" barrel anyway so I would just reballel a 300 win mag AR-30 with a mans barrel if I could get one. The reason I would buy this thing over a custom is the price. Tell me where I can get a 338 Lapua built here in Canada for $1700 and I will buy one.

Let me start off by saying I am not trying to put ya down here incase the way I type sounds that way, just trying to help and I may be wrong.

1'st off your price of $1700 for an AR-30 is $1700, thats American. I checked into this rifle a few years back in Canada and it was just under $3000 Canadian ++. If you want to put the Man's Barrel on it you are looking at around $500 + or - . Then fitting and trueing to the action.,do ya want a muzzle break or trigger work? more money,...no point just screwing it on and getting 1" groups. You may be able to do this yourself not sure what your smithing skills are, I think if you shop around you will find you can get a better built .338 in Canada than takeing a production factory rifle from Armalight and trying to make it a rifle you are hoping it is, Plus you would be supporting a Canadian firearms industry.

Just an opinion

Long Range Canuck, thanks for your opinion but here is what I found out. The gun is $1415US which is $1700 CND give or take. I talked to Armalite and they said they would ship it to my brother for free in Salt lake. $1000 dollars to rebarrel it with a break and true the face of the action and bolt lugs. Seems like a good deal to me. Just the border holding me back.
The $1000 bucks would be going to a local smith that I use.

that sounds more like it. my local shop said he could get them (in multipuls mind you) for around $2000 my cost. thats without base rings or scope of course. I'd still rather give my money to the canadian market, anyone with experiance care to shed some light on a few brand names for me??

Cheers,
