Armalite M15 Competition - Any Experience??

If its that tight I would spray it with penetrating oil and leave it overnight - couldn't hurt

I don't have personal experience but I imagine a low mass BCG would cycle easier (less gas required to move it) which should result in lower recoil as well as still being reliable with weaker (less pressure) ammo

I have heard that if using a low mass BCG its even more important to keep your gun clean as the lighter unit won't have the same force/momentum to push a round into a dirty/fouled chamber when compared to the regular Mil Spec unit.

Ive found this guys videos pretty informative for all things 3 Gun:

So I went to the range today and put 200 Down the Pipe. Function was flawless. What a sweet shooting rifle. Recoil was very very mild even though I did not adjust the gas block. Brass ejected 2:30-3:00 o'clock position with IMI M855. The muzzle brake is very effective. I do not think I need to tune it since the muzzle is not rising much if at all. The brake does gas you a bit if the wind is in your face. If you are thinking of going this route I would say its a good purchase. I will probably end up swapping out the BCG to a JP or something similar. Also I think it may be a good idea to swap out the buffer out too H.
I can give an update when I hit the 1000 round mark and let you know my thoughts. I will also attempt to post a pic or 2 later as well. Anything specific you would like to know just ask.

1000s of rounds through mine. I swap out mags. Keep it real. This gun is a shooter out of the box.

Congrats, sounds like they live up to the hype

How far have you reached out with it so far? Hows the trigger?

What are we talking about - sub MOA?

I`m using a X95 until I figure out what direction I want to go and sub MOA it is not in my experience......

I agree, I have the gen 2 Tavor and with 77gr Handloads the rifle can get just under an MOA on the best group of the day but mine did shoot its best group of right around .85MOA. I plan on getting a Timney for it soon if I can manage to scrape enough cash together for it and that would make it far easier I am sure. My buddy who is a much better shot got the best out of it. I usually have trouble with the factory trigger.

The Trigger on mine is not the single Stage Timney it came with since I do not like a single stage. I will be putting in a nice 2-stage in it though but not sure on the specific model. The current trigger I have is quite nice, but the first stage is a bit long and the break is a bit heavy at 4.5-5lbs but it has one of the best resets. Unfortunately my home range is short so I can only go about 65m right now. I am waiting to hear back from someone who has a 200m range though. I would think that with proper handloads or match ammo this thing would not have trouble shooting under .75MOA though. I have read tonnes of literature and even seen 1/4MOA groups from multiple different guys with 75gr and 77gr. When I do go to a longer range I will group it with some Federal GMM, Hornady Match and Handloads to get a better idea of how it groups.

So after about 1000 rounds in the factory configuration I decided to order a few upgrades for it. It has so far been flawless reliability wise with about 500 rounds of Factory IMI m855 62gr and 55gr handloads. I currently do not have a long enough range to get good accuracy tests out of it but from what I can see from my handloads it is probably in the .75MOA range. Perhaps it could get a bit tighter when I work up a 77gr load for it. The Muzzle Brake is very effective but I will end up drilling the right screw on it, It moves just a smidge to the right. Eventually I will put in a decent Trigger in it as well but not a 2-3lb 3Gun trigger but that is not a priority.
I ordered a JP Enterprises LMOS Bolt Carrier (Low Mass) and Enhanced Bolt. I also decided to save a bit of cash and get the Geissele Super 42 Braided Wire H1 buffer and spring instead of the getting the JP Silent Capture. I see in reviews of the Super 42 it also removes the "Twang" sound.
Here is a question that I was hoping someone could answer for me. The buffer on the Super 42 is H1. I have read/heard that since its a 13.5" Heavy Barrel, it should have an H2. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction please. I can buy Tungsten weights to add to the Buffer to make it an H2 if necessary. I do not shoot weak or low power handloads but reliability is still my main concern. Thanks in advance to anyone who may help.

Got the JP LMOS Polished Low-Mass carrier and JP Enhanced Bolt. I also got the gas tuned for my handload of choice. Adjusting the gas block was simple after I took a torch and letting it sit with Kroil overnight. It shoots incredibly soft. One thing though I did have a slam fire. I emailed JP about the problem and they said I will just need to swap out the firing pin to a Titanium one. I should have ordered the complete BCG (which comes with titanium pin) but they did not have the complete polished BCG in stock so I purchased the parts seperate.

Currently the Buffer (Geissele Super 42) is an H1 but I ordered the Tungsten weights to convert it to H2 or H3. I am still not quite sure what would be the "correct" buffer configuration for it. JP sent me a chart that sort of gave me an idea. I guess trial and error will be how I figure it out.

My muzzle doesn't move at all on recoil. I did drill it and adjust the gas block. The simple fact is that changing out components is an enthusiast's thing not a perceptible performance thing. MOA? This is an AR 15. Quite frankly shoot slow and use it as a precision rifle it will impress but I have precision rifles for precision shooting. An AR 15 is about movement and aggressive and effective target engagement. Why anyone would want a precision AR is beyond me as all ARs I have shot are precise for their design intent. My AR 15 does not shoot like my bolt .308 at 300 yards... But it will ring the 18" gong every time when I do my job.

I have not drilled the Muzzle yet which I plan on doing soon. It does ever so slightly move to the right. I did notice quite a difference just from swapping out the Buffer and BCG recoil wise before I tuned the gas for it. It is fun to do some tinkering with it though and getting it "right" so to speak. I only have an enhanced mil-spec trigger right now which I am considering swapping out but no hurry. It is a very nice rifle out of the box IMO. My home range is not long enough at the moment but that may be changing. I have thought about joining a second one which is 200yds If I remember correctly.

My next rifle will be a mr556 or a non restricted 308. I am interested in the Tavor 7 that is hopefully going to come in the next while. I like the changes that they made to it like an adjustable gas system. MDR would also be awesome too but I have no idea if anyone has submitted an FRT.
