Armalite or Stag

So I was wanting a 16" barrel but I just realized that will probably be classified as a restricted firearm. Am I right with this assumption, 16" barreled AR15 is Restricted where a 20" barreled AR15 is Non-Restricted? I have my restricted but will be using this rifle in the woods...

Nope. You can get the Armalite AR180B, which is a non restricted gun in .223 that takes AR magazines. Or pony up for the NR Tavor for 3K.

No, its an AR15 or nothing........Please enlighten me on why in the world would they classify a 20" Barreled AR15 with a fixed stock as a restricted firearm? Or is there no reason?

The regs specifically state that any AR or variant is restricted. Barrel length doesn't matter at all with AR's - they are all restricted unless they are converted autos in which case they are prohib.

I'd advise you search around. Most of your questions have been answered before.

The SL8 is a nice gun if the ergos work for you. While more money than the AR, you can throw more money into it and have a unrestricted G36 or G36K or a restricted C. There were some issues with the lower receiver cracking (search for that you'll find it) but you can get a magwell adapter to use AR mags. So 10 rounds are possible I think, if the mags fit height wise.

Keep saving, when you've got enough to buy 2 AR's you can get a Swiss Arms, or a Tavor - they're both non-restricted

Well, I'm now considering a H&K SL8......How do these stack up to the AR's on the reliability and accuracy department?

If you're not going to get an AR15, pony up for a Swissarms... I'm saving my pennies for one right now.

Just dial (403) 720-GUNS and let the nice folks scratch that itch for you!

....and what's the difference between the SL8's and the HK logos? I've seen some with just the straight red "HK" and another with the red "HK" AND some white writing under it......is one model newer than the other?

What model of "Swiss Arms" are we talking about, the SIG 550? And what makes it so great?

The Classic Green or Black Special... Not a 550, but a parallel derivative of a common ancestor. Frighteningly accurate, but a tad on the weighty side. Swiss built, and it's a rifle that runs like a swiss watch! Only bad thing is that they take a proprietary mag.

I have been wanting one of them for oh, about six years, or maybe even a little more.

Who sells these bad boys? Any scope mounting option available?
