I'm new to AR's and I'm looking to get an AR15. I've been looking at AR15's from Arms East and Wolverine's. I would like to get some opinions on both Armalite and Stag Arms. I emailed Wolverine's and they told me that their M15's are currently on back order, pending State Department Licenses.

Thanks.

The answers to this question will also be the answer to 'what do you own', it always does. ;)

The Shooting Edge has Stag-15 in stock. AEI is out of stock for another week.

Prices are comparable, when similarly equipped.

I say get the Stag, but I may be a little bit biased. If you do have any specific questions on that brand, call us.

Notice how nobody says WHY you should go for one or the other. This has all been completely useless. Come on guys. How about some info.

Why? To many mom and pop companies popping up with a cnc machine building AR's.

Stick with the Company that has a history... :) (and their early partnership with LMT).

Armalite makes some good rifles, but I believe that STAG's are a little better made. Their parent company is a military contractor and provides many "mil-spec" parts to Colt/FN for use in true M-16/M-4 rifles. They also provide many critical parts to other AR "manufacturers" like S&W, etc...who simply rebrand and offer them for sale. For that reason, and from personal experience, I'd put the STAG rifles near the upper tier of modern civilian ARs. Not quite in the same ballpark as Colt/LMT, but nipping at their heels.

The current Armalite product is a good one, but not quite as good as the STAGs I've owned/handled. FYI, the current Armalite company has not connection to the original Armalite, makers of the AR-10, etc...back in the 60s. The current company bought rights to use the name, doesn't make 'em a bad company though! I've owned Armalites and liked them very much.

Are you going to plink or are you going to do matches?

Plinking won't matter too much what you get. minimal rounds will make anything look reliable.

But if your going to put alot of rounds through it, get some thing good.

I personally am starting to build my AR with a stag arms lower from arms east. If that means anything to you. Haven't heard much bad about armalite, i just found what i needed in a stag.

I think the components on the Stag are a bit better than the Armalite, but you can not go wrong with the customer service from either of the primary vendors of either of these products in Canada.

I got a Stag flat top from AE about 3 months ago and I have no regrets. I also looked at an armalite but my research pointed me in the Stag's direction.

My preference is stag arms, at the top of the food chain it is just personal preference that seperates any of the ABCD and S models. Frankly next to colt or LMT, Stag Arm's is definatly what I would buy.

all the features of the two top tier guns for a big savings. That being said here is how I would rate my personal buying preference,

Colt 6920
LMT
Stag Arms
Armalite
Bushmaster
DPMS

I would not touch an oly arms.... and frankly the Colt and the LMT are Overpriced for my needs, STag arms fits the bill and walt gives AWESOME service.

I'm always glad to hear people are liking their Stag's. I'm also sure people are liking their Armalites.

Dave, I don't think you'll ever see Stag Arms make a midlength gas tube, for the same reason that Colt won't.

Did I just read Assyrian say CMT/Stag Arms is a Mom and Pop One mill shop? Making M16s under license since 1973. Three factories. Over 100 mill stations.:stfun00b:

I own a Stag. My Buddy owns an Armalite. We both shoot the same size groups and reliability is exactly the same. I say flip a coin or just go by what the best deal is.
