I have dealt with Gunner a few times and my first purchases from him were all good.

But I then tried to buy something else from him and it never came. I emailed him and he stated the credit card did not go through, but I have used this card with him a few times already with no problem. I contacted the credit card company and all was well??

I tried to email Gunner back and even faxed him saying I was sorry for the problem, although I didn't do anything wrong as I checked the previous emails with the credit card info and he already had it on file anyways and info was all correct. He never responded to my emails again or my fax.

I think he thought I was trying to screw him so he just didn't respond. So I have not purchased from him again since.

Meh, I've been waiting on a custom para for over a year now. meh. it gets to me when it gets to me.

Having email dialogue with Gunnar is a bit slow sometimes. I usually just call on the designated days. He's done work for me, and I still recommend, even though it might of taken 6 months to get a blanked norc and norc tune. I'm in no hurry for guns.
 
I've bad good experience, but detest how some things are posted without a price and if you ask, the price goes way up. In every case I've asked, I had to choke. Milarm does that too.
 
I totally recommend Gunnar. I have bought several guns from him and all are GREAT. Look, it's worth the wait. He is super busy, and maybe it is not him updating the site everyday.

2 months is nothing, try getting a classic car restored... lol your lucky to get it back in 6 months to a year!

When this many people say his good, i think you can relax and not worry about not getting your firearm back. :)
 
My past dealings with Gunnar have been good. However, he really does need to up his customer relations capacity. No excuse for the OP getting his gun back non-functional and Gunnar should cover shipping costs both ways for the return.

That said, August, September & October are just about the worst times to approach a gunsmith about getting work done, as every boy and his dog is hitting them up for scope installations and tune-ups, repairs in prep for the new hunting season. As a result, just about every gunsmith I know becomes basically swamped this time of year.

As such, before accepting any new work, I'd love for Canadian gunsmiths to institue a policy of not accepting any new work until they're down to a backlog of just 3-4 weeks...or tell the potential customer upfront that they've got 3-4 monhts of work ahead of them and that their job won't be done in any less than 5 months. Gives the customer a choice of looking elsewhere or not having to constantly enquire why a job that should take just a few hours isn't done yet.
 
Guys, I'm gonna weigh in here for a bit and, no, I don't know the man and I have never dealt with him.

Two months to wait for getting work done to a handgun: what's wrong with that? This is October 19; yesterday I went to the Post Office and picked up the 2 guns I bought at auction in AUGUST. That was the Gummint screwing around: they had no listing for the Enfield Number 2 Mark 1 revolver in their wonderful classification database, despite having reference numbers for the THREE guns developed from it!

But at least I actually GOT those. At a previous auction, some years ago, I bought 4 guns. ONE of them (a Luger) took 4 years and 10 months to get registered. I got that one a little late for the match I wanted it for, which had been shot 4-1/2 years previously. The other 3 they just kept and advised me that they destroyed the things, although they did not return the pieces, which were MY LAWFUL PROPERTY. I guess there must be a lot of crime these days with 1851 and 1860 Colts. But that is Our Beloved Government screwing people around and nobody complains.

Two months' wait for custom work to be done by an overworked, harassed, sick man is NOTHING.

Some of you whiners should either grow up...... or get good and sick yourselves some time, see how that improves YOUR performance. I'll be happy to send you a gun to work on and then call the Better Business Bureau on you EVERY DAY, see how you like it.

I have not dealt with Gunner but I have sent him many emails. Some he replied to and others he does not. Some times he answers his phone calls sometimes he does not. I have been in Buiss for over 30 years and this is just my option but that is not the proper way to do buiss,

I have dealt with a young fellow Brandon, from Del Selins and Clay from Sako Alberta. They allways answer your questions and I might add very quickly. For all the guys who think it is not a big deal to wait for something take your car to the repair shop and wait a few months for it without hearing from the shop owner and see how you feel. To me a gun is not a big deal if it takes time to get it back but to some it is a very big deal. We are all different.

I have read every post reply in this post and I think the issue here is that there has been very poor communication with this shop at times. As someone pointed out if you can't do the work in a timely manner don't take it on. That seems to be the issue with almost every gunsmith in Canada. They never say no to anyone or tell them it will take a year or two to get it fixed.

When the young fellow who works for Del Selins takes time off it is posted on the website when he will be away. That my friends takes only a minute or two to do and it is the way it should be done.

As to the question about people whinning about Gunner this is what these forums are for. You can whine or praise it is your right.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I hope you girls don't bother Gunnar anymore!! He is so friggin' swamped with work and with selling guns he hardly has time to fart much less anything else. If all you girls with the bunched up panties will just wander down to the Mall the rest of us can buy our guns in peace.

Wow. I wish I could get this much attention from people all across the country. I think it really says something for the guy. I had one screw up dealing with him, but I have no reservations on dealing with him in future. He does something no one else does, he takes trade-ins at a fair value. That alone is enough to keep me coming back. Besides, his used merchandise tends to be unique, and in good condition.

One thing I can tell you, your complaint isn't going to hurt his business. The comments are running more positive than negative.
 
I've dealt with Gunnar, bought 2 1911's from him. Top notch know problems atoll. I would , and have reccomended him to my buddies. I've always had good things to say about this man. Give him a frikken break, if he's sick, he's sick, he'll get to you.

I have been waiting on one of my marlins at a smiths (not gunnars) for coming up on 3 years now. Suck it up butter cup, some smiths, gun parts, custom peaces etc take forever to get or work on. And if that gun is the one in question.....you deserve a swift kick in the nuts.
