Armi Jager AP-74

Yeah probably....back to using a 10-22 (may as well us a golf club, very particular what is uses for 22lr ammo) and a cooey 600, and a cooey 38, 40 cal heavy barrel Kentucky musket (with mini-balls what a blast but slow) was Using a 58 cal Enfield with mini-ball (gone to a different home now)...have found nothing yet that will fill the gap where the Jager was, i am sure there is something out there

Gophers prefer to be shot with bolt-action rifles. At least...they seem very receptive to it. :) x 100

Seriously though, if an AR-ish 22 is the best fit for you in the gopher patch, you could look at the Ruger SR-22, Remington 597 VTR, Kel-Tec SU-22, etc. I doubt any of them are more accurate than a Marlin 795, and you could probably buy 2 or 3 x 795s for the price of an SR-22. lol Marlin made a model 7000 for a very short while, a heavy-barrel 795. Good luck finding one, I gave up. If high capacity mags are your thing (they aren't mine, even IN a gopher patch) there are some interesting options available for the 795 as well.

I only own one semi now, a 795. While I don't plan on buying another semi, I will be looking closely at these when I see them here in Canada; https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/semi-automatic

I paid double that back 15yrs ago........................

They weren’t restricted 15 years ago. There’s precious little demand for restricted rimfire long-guns, and the market reflects that. They also have no accessories or spare parts readily available, further hitting value. At $200 to $300, they’re an interesting toy to have, any more and they’re not worthwhile.

Thanks for the info!
if i want a serious bolt besides the Cooey ...Anschultz has a couple, which seem ok
As far a Jager replacement Kel-Tec (k-tel) pass, S&W 15-22: another paper punch (RPAL, go figure?? yet the Mossberg 715T is not???) i will keep looking. I guess it was the Jager handled and could put ANY commercially made ammo into it and get great results with trying to lessen the hole diggers. What a shame to put a unit like a Jager into punching paper

They WERE restricted 15 years ago.....When I bought mine in 2000 it was restricted then.
If I remember right they went restricted with all the "real" AR's as part of Kim Campbell's legislation.

Fair enough. They were also new 15 years ago. However, the rest of my statement stands: There’s precious little demand for restricted rimfire long-guns, and the market reflects that. They also have no accessories or spare parts readily available, further hitting value.

I agree! And it's a goddamn shame we aren't allowed to shoot gophers with them! Such a great rimfire classic!

and trying to find a replacement...most of the units out there are pure crap or paper punchers...if i want to punch paper i dont need a range for that! i have one in my office that does three holes at a time!! And some of the suggestions for comparisons are these rifles that are like a half and half deal (half conventional stock and a forward stock/plastic deal pulled from an auto unit somewhere....like sawing a regular rifle in half and a tactical/ militia unit in half and gluing some where in the middle)...pass on that! S&W 15-22 restricted....Mossberg 715 T not. Just when i think i may see one i like it can only punch paper....and No more 10-22 based ruger crap either had my fill of a 22 that is brand/ballistic specific. If it can't shoot any round commercially produced..its crap!
