Arms 18 mount

Where did you order from? I want to order one shortly.
They are one of the better mounts from what I can tell. I know some people have problems with stoppages caused by the mount blocking the ejecting brass. It can be fixed by replacing the ejector and extractor springs with USGI parts or by clipping some coils off the springs.

I have the Arms 18 mount, looks great.
Have had a few stopages with steel case ammo
Unfortunately im am having issues.
Had it installed once, and with my windage and elevation maxed out I was still off target.
Im still looking for ideas to correct it.

Try mounting it with the C clip on the side mounting bolt removed .

These directions came from 45ACPKing ( formerley m14Doctor) he has mounted many many of these mounts .

Installing An ARMS18 Mount by M14Doctor

I find it odd that so many folks have issues getting ARMS 18 style mounts to align correctly.

Here's my tips:

* Get rid of the horse shoe washer on the inside of the retaing bolt. This lil bugger is what offsets the front of the mount... I ditch it everytime.

* The rear screw that attaches to the stripper clip guide key. This has an adjustable pad that is key to alignment.

* Remove the screw and use a slot screw driver to adjust. First step is to back it out so it doesn't make contact upon "test fit" install. Same goes for the front pad.

**on my promag version this rear adjustable pad was installed backwards from the package. The slotted face should face up, away from the receiver.

* Snug fit the side bolt and set a 3/4 or 1" dowel on the mount. Observe position.

* Then slowly bring rear pad to just touch the clip guide key.

* Install rear screw to just snug, then fully tighten side bolt

* Check alignment and level.

* These can now be adjusted by removing rear screw and lessening or increasing the tension of the rear pad. Reinstall screw and fully tighten.

* Finally adjust front pad until it just touches receiver.

you'll "probably" have to trim a couple coils off of the extractor and ejector springs. Due to the mount sitting so low above the bolt, and the norcs having longer springs then usgi, you "might" have problems with stovepiping rounds. mine did.

When I had an arms 18 mount I had ejection issues that I could never fully cure. New springs, usgi bolt parts and a usgi bolt never cured the odd case getting stuck between the mount and the op rod. The only fix was having a screwdriver on hand to pry the empty case out of there.I liked how solid and how low the mount sat on the rifle and thus not requiring a cheekpiece .I tried the promag copy that is similar to the old style arms 18. I was not impressed with the fit and the amount of play in the threads in the 'pad' screws that touch the dove tail and front of the receiver. YMMV as there are a lot of positive reviews on the promag mount. I ended up going with just the irons on that rifle. With my socom 18 I did a blackfeather makeover and used the casm mount . So far no issues with it and the build quality is excellent.

I think they are great mounts for an M14 platform. I have just recently mounted one on my Norc. I have yet to fire it since installing the mount. So we will see how it goes. You have consider the trade-off of having the lowest mount on the market. You may have a couple stove pipes. Also you may have to trim a couple coils from the ejector and extractor springs to make it eject reliably.

So, for me now that the warm weather is here I will see what happens. I like the ability to remove the scope and still retain full use of the iron sights. Also allows a very low scope installation. I have a Mark 4 scope sitting on low arms 22 rings. It JUST clears the peep sight. It looks great and will hopefully shoot just as well.
