Alright, so I want to eventually build up a decent rig on an M-14 platform. Regardless if I keep the Norc or go full blown LRB build, Im gonna need a decent mount for the optics.

I was thinking of the ARMS 18 for a while, but I recently discovered the troy battlerail for the M-14.

Question is, is the troy rail as reliable as the ARMS mount? I know the ARMS mount is probably as good as M-14 mounts get. But the troy rail looks pretty sweet though.

Any other option in regards to a railed hand guard similar to the troy one?

Thanks.

The LRB M25 receiver is the best scope mount you can get.

Otherwise, I'd take the Knight Armament deluxe rail before the Troy rail because it allow the use iron sight and lower optic mounting.

The troy gives you more rail obviously, for mounting any optic config you choose. Many guys are also using flip up battle sights in conjunction with an optic on the troy. This unit may also dampen barrel whip somewhat and this would be a big reason I'd choose it over the KAC. Cost is another BIG factor between all three mounts mentioned here.
For a stand alone scope mount, an LRB M25 receiver or an arms 18 , those would be my choices.
