I've got a nice Arms 18 mount on top of my M14, and a fellow clubmember suggested that I should take out the front 'contact point' hardware (set screw, "contact pad" and such) and get the reciever drilled & tapped to bolt the front of the mount to the reciever, in order to avoid any movement of the mount.
Is that a common operation or it is just a plain waste of time and money?
