Arms #22 rings

Nahhh you didn't steal the thread ...
comparing the Leupold QRW rings to the ARMS # 22 rings is a very valid addition to the topic. I have BOTH, and while the ARMS work a bit quicker [ one second to snap the two ARMS levers out VS about three seconds to spin off the two Leupold levers ] , the Leupold rings do have some advantages.

1.] The Leupold rings have way more adjustment to make up for variations in the rail width. The Leupold rings will adjust down TIGHT to fit the Weaver rails [ and any other slightly undersized knockoffs ]. The ARMS tighten up best on the wider Picatinny rails, and tolerances on these rails had better be close to right, or the levers are too hard, or too soft on camming/rotating that 1/4 turn into lockup.

2.] The Leupold rings are better looking on anything other than a Mil Spec type rifle

3.] The ARMS are 30 MM, with EXPENSIVE step down spacers for 1". The Leupolds are available in 1" and 30 MM, and either one cost a bunch less than the ARMS ... and are easier to locate up here in Canuckistan.

4.] I personally think the Leupolds are held to better tolerances, with better fit and finish, and just may be stronger.

That being said, I DO use both types of rings.
No M-14 with an ARMS # 18 mount should be without the matching ARMS rings ...
it just wouldn't be fashionable.

Like wearing a plaid shirt with horizontal stripes.

As usual, YMMV

Lazerus2000, would you mind trying something for me? If you have time can you try the leupold ring that you are using for your flashlight on your arms18....just see if the lever will tighten all the way when on the right side. Then i will know if i was just being an idiot or if i need to buy some arms22's. Thanks.

that just made me laugh...maybe i do need #22's

Bob ... the Leupold QRW rings do tighten up on the ARMS mount ...
IF ...
you pull the front lever out as it catches on the mount surface, rotate, and turn some more.

Those QRW levers are sharp ...

As I said, I like the looks of the ARMS rings better, and they also may allow the use of iron sights through the slot in the ARMS mount ... if you get lucky.

The QRW rings have square pins that fit down deeper in the cross slots, and they block the rear iron sight on my 14.
of course
YMMV

I have a set of low and medium, the low work for a 40mm scope but I do find that it is a bit low with the JAE100 stock, worked great with the original stock. I have to push my cheek in hard with the low rings now, I think I am going back to the medium.
