ARMS SIR: Opinions?

I'm a fan of the ARMS #18 Mounts that I use on my M-14s and I like their scope rings a great deal as well. Based on those products I would say that ARMS makes pretty darn good products.

That said, I've recently noticed, in more than a few posts, backhanded references, criticisms and generally negative comments being made about the ARMS SIR & related products.

The one I handled seemed well made & from discussions a couple of years back here on CGN they seemed quite popular. I have noticed that there isn't too much being said about them in terms of rifle builds, or guys opting for the ARMS when kitting up their favorite bang stick. Just wondering why the turn in public opinon here or am I reading too much into recent comments? Just curious!

I find it odd that Barrett is using them on their new AR on the market. Like you said, there are much better and lighter rails on the market with similar features to the SIR.

There are other rails out there that serve the same purpose at half the weight.

ARMS was good when it was the only kid in class. Now it's pretty much the Dunce that sits in the corner.

They're still making money hand over foot though, from the US military - apparently it pays very well to have friends in high places.
