Armscor-Derya TM22 Feather

Hey 05RAV, thanks for all the information on this rifle. I'm tempted. Any idea if the height of the front sight would be compatible with a Magpul MBUS rear flip up sight? Is the front co-witness with the red dot?
How has your experience been since posting those thread? Any change?
Thanks

I don't have any hand on experience with a Magpul MBUS rear flip up sight. I know it from the photos only. I'm 99% positive that it would be compatible with the front sight. Having said that, I wonder why would you want to mount it? The original rear sight which is an integral part of the carrying handle (see #1) is very similar to the Magpul MBUS sight. It is a flip up peep sight with two apertures of various sizes. It is fully adjustable for elevation and windage. Basically, works same way as the Magpul sight.
Yes, the front sight can be co-witness with a red dot.
So far, I've been shooting my TM22 Feather with Federal Champion HP (36gr/1260fps), Federal Auto Match (40gr/1200fps), Remington Golden (36gr/1280fps), Remington Thunderbolt (40gr/1255fps), CCI MiniMag (40gr/1235fps), CCI Standard (40gr/1070fps) and TAC-22 (40gr/1083fps). In only a few cases standard velocity ammo (CCI&TAC-22) had failures-to-eject. All HV ammo did not give me any problems whatsoever.

I'd only use the flip up rear in conjunction with a red dot if I removed the carry handle. Otherwise I'd keep the carry handle in place and use the stock sights.

Is the one you bought grey or OD? I can't find any good high resolution pics online that show the grey available from IRG right now.

Mine is a "burnt bronze" color. They are long gone. Also, the black ones lasted only a few days on the IRUNGUNS website and are gone now. Those which are left, are "smoke grey polymer" which tells me nothing. You can send them email asking what is the exact description of the color. Perhaps, they could send you a real photo of one of the rifles? The price is also 30USD higher than I paid.

At least it's less $$, usually when a company makes something cheaper, lighter, and uglier they charge more $$$ lol

For those who bought one, what did you end up paying for shipping and to which province?

Kind of a weird system where you agree to buy the rifle before they can even give you a quote on shipping.

On Feb.25/2024 I paid in full for my TM22 Feather which included $37.61CAD for shipping the rifle from their warehouse in Alberta to Waterloo, Ontario. I don't know whether or not the shipping rates went up since then. Obviously, the conversion rate from USD to CAD for the price of the rifle depends on the day you pay for your order. There is also a GST in CAD added to the invoice.

Very interesting...based on your review 05RAV and based on the FOC ad, I picked up this today (3/27/2025). I went to reply to that thread, but it looks like FOC deleted the whole thread because....they jacked the price up $30 to $399.95 by this evening. I am so glad I picked mine up for $369.95 earlier today. I imagine it is selling like hotcakes and it seems like FOC is the only retailer that carries this (that I could see). It is too bad about the previous thread - there is no evidence of that previous ad at that previous price (I guess because it changed), as well as our comments and thread. So I will post here.

Being an owner of a TM22 already from Derya, I thought I'd compare/contrast. First thing I noticed was how light it was...of course, hence the name Feather. The plastic/polymer seems much more stronger than the stuff from the GSG16. It doesn't necessarily feel cheap. I love that it came with two 5 round mags, though I already have my Derya 25 rounders (glad I got them when I did).

That carry handle I put on for the AR-esque look, BUT it doesn't look like I can mount an optic on it if that handle is on there - I see there are some goofy ways to do it, but I'll pass on goofiness - it will either be the handle with the front sight or I mount an optic and forego the handle (and the corresponding front sight piece) altogether.

Look and feel otherwise with the controls - it is definitely a Derya. I wasn't sure what it was because of the Rock Island Armory / Armscor association (I still don't get the relationship, but that's OK - it's clearly a Derya manufactured firearm) I let my daughter handle it and she couldn't believe how light it was - she thought it was a toy or something.

Can't wait to take it to my club on the weekend. I couldn't wait to pick it up on the way there and have to carry a cardboard box to my club so I just made an excuse for a separate trip out there to get it).

Thanks 05RAV for putting me over the top with the decision to buy and it was a good one as the retailer upped the price tonight.

EDIT: I wonder aside from the plastic furniture (including receiver), I wonder is this the exact same as an aluminum based TM22. I seem to recall in another thread 05RAV saying there are some design differences. In looking briefly online, it looks like you can't just put an aluminum handguard on this thing...I guess what's driving this question is me pondering whether I should sell my Derya TM22, if this is functionally the same thing.

I also noticed yesterday that FOC removed the previous thread and then it re-appeared mysteriously today. I thought that they sold out all the guns and didn't want to have an empty thread anymore. After you mentioned about a price increase I looked at their ad again and, indeed, the price is higher! Personally, I don't approve this kind of behavior but business is business.
No, you can't mount any optic with the handle on. However, it is NOT necessary to remove the front sight. Like you can see in my review above I attached a red dot on a riser mount and it worked perfectly (somehow resembles the American M4 carbine). The same with a scope.
The Feather has slightly different system of attaching a buffer tube to a stock as compared to a standard/aluminum TM22 having, as they call it, a "clubfoot" stock. The buffer in the Feather is a simple rectangular piece of rubber which can be replaced. However a newer edition of the standard TM22 has a retractable stock and, most likely, is attached in the same way as in the Feather. I don't think that you could put an aluminum handguard on the Feather. But why would one do it?
Regarding a relationship between Armscor (Arms Corporation of the Philippines) and the Rock Island Armory is such that in 1985 the Rock Island Armory brand was acquired by Armscor. As I understand it, the Rock Island Armory located in the US, is an importing branch of the conglomerate. The Armscor branch is a production brand with the factories in the Philippines and US.
Finally, I can advise you to run your Feather with a slightly oiled bolt. Personally, I only use Ballistol oil for all my guns but, perhaps, you can use something similar.

I took the TM22 Feather to the club yesterday. It was a hoot to shoot, but my old man bad eyes - I need to take the carrying handle off that thing and put a red dot on it.

I will take 05RAV's advice and take the thing apart and oil it up as part of my cleaning regimen. This is a bad habit of mine for not initially lubing stuff out of the box when brand new
