ARRRGGGHH! Frustrated!

I never said it was stolen by customs agents, nor that the sky was falling. I've ordered parts from the US many times over the years but this is the first time I've not received them. I have no prior experience ordering from Kinneys, so can't say anything about their integrity either way, and won't.

I was simply stating I was frustrated with what should have been a pretty straight-forward transaction that has dragged out over a month and a half now. I don't know the details of what went down along the way, only that my USPS tracking showed it cleared US Customs and then disappeared until Kinneys contacted me yesterday.

I had a new email today saying my original order was re-shipped (with tracking), I guess I'll check my email and watch the mailbox again. If that's the case, I'd say thanks to Kinneys for replacing the missing parts and re-sending the parcel. Haven't heard anything from them about an additional cost.....

I can't believe how many people don't seem to know about American export laws (as they relate to firearms). Seems like a nearly daily occurrence to see a thread about this sort of thing. My favorite is when people say #### like "well I'm not in jail so clearly it's ok!"... Some days I feel like we need an ITAR tutorial as part of the sign up process for this site or something...

I would like to thank you and Hitzy for responding to a lower life form! From the bottom of my heart, If paramecium have one? I received,i before E except after C, a 25 moa rail from Kinneys for an Anschutz 64 in my mailbox at my residence! A week later I picked up another 25 moa rail for another Annie but model 54 from Kinneys sent to a American UPS store. Now im on Americas most wanted and thanks too our two thoughtfull members Suther and Hitzy I realize the errors Ive made due too my poor amoebian gene pool. Hope neither one of you operate heavy equiptment. Nope obviously government workers smarter than everyone around you! Thanks for your Presents, oops paramecium spelling error

As a respected member on CGN so eloquently puts it , You have made it to my ignore list, because of ur apparently high IQs

O.K., I guess I don't know what you are getting at with these last 2 posts, don't want the info?
I know one fellow that got stopped at the US side coming back, with a couple mags for a 22.
Not a good thing

Laugh if you want, I'm just providing information. You are exporting gun parts out of the US, everything gun related is ITAR or State Department regulated. And you are correct, they don't care who you are, just what you are doing.

Take a deep breath. There are some "gun parts" that cannot be exported from the U.S. to Canada (without export permits) and some that can. For example, while scopes cannot be exported to Canada, the rails for them can. You can't buy a rifle or barreled action from the U.S. (without the proper export permits), but you can buy a stock.

Of course if you "self export" parts such as scopes or barrels that aren't eligible for export -- that is, smuggle them across the border -- you will end up in a boatload of trouble if caught.

On another related note, in post #14 I said the following:

If the firearms-related parts I ordered and which were shipped this week from Mwerks don't come in, I'll post on this thread and say all the naysayers were right after all. But I doubt that will be necessary.

The parts were delivered yesterday.

The advice was posted as mentioned, because we see these types of posts all the time. Plus he was advising others to do the same:
Won’t work for everyone cuz of proximity but it’s another way to skin the cat!
Being "Canadian" won't exempt you from US law.

I posted the link to IRUNGUNS, they are advising the US is cracking down on parts and shipping from companies that are not registered exporters with the state dept, that's all.

Further to this, so that readers who are unaware may be informed, while some parts may be exempt from requiring a permit to be exported, the entity performing the export must still be a registered exporter and declare the export to the relevant authorities. This is why some US manufacturers cannot ship across the border, as the several thousand dollar annual fee to be a registered exporter is not justified for the small volume of international sales they might gain for these "exempt" parts.

To be sure, any Canadian self exporting without registering as a US exporter and paying several thousand dollars for the privilege, is most certainly grossly violating US law and subject to severe criminal penalties... for that measly scope rail or stock.

Don't Take The Chance.

Great news that you received ur needed parts! Hope they don't extradite you and throw you in Levinworth! Burn some powder and have fun. Safe shooting deadman cheers Chris

Not sure why they would, I only bought the parts from a dealer who took care of exporting them on their end. Might have to do it again, my Savages seem to be multiplying!

That is good news indeed! not that it matters now that you finally have your parts but did you ever find out what actually happened?

Kinneys told me the parts cleared US Customs but were stopped, and returned to them by the Canadian side. Somewhere along the way the trigger guard and bottom metal disappeared, no explanation where but it sounds like confiscation by Canadian Customs. I don't have any documentation proving this however.

I wonder if a CBSA agent has a new trigger guard and bottom metal on his rifle?;)

There has been a lot of talk about CBSA having a long leash (or none at all) when it comes to determining their course of action, but its disappointing to think they have policy which allows their agents to pick and choose what they let pass through based on their personal wish list......

I would like to believe its a better system than that, but who knows?
