A great movie for the magpul fanpoys with too much money and an interest in becoming a l33t sniper. And no, Im not an ex-JTF3 guy nor did I stay at a best western last night :p.


I found the video not only a waste of money but a waste of time as well. The only thing that got my brain thinking was the talk about scope cant, but that didnt change anything for me in the long run.

The rest was basically an infomercial for Horus and all the other stuff they were payed to feature in the movie. There was no talk about ammunition or cleaning the rifle.

If you really want to learn more about precision shooting, read different forums like Snipers Hide or ask questions here.
 
snipers hide does offer excellent on line training for a small fee and also tons of great input from the huge sniper crowd that hang out there... Jacob Bynam, owner/instructor of Rifles Only in Texas is the instructor doing the training vids on the Hide.. he often has imput from "Frank" (hide name Lowlight) an ex marine sniper and owner of Snipers Hide to do the training vids..as well as being one of the top training facilities in the US, the Snipers Hide Cup is one of the big comps shot at Jacob's school ..
 
K, I'm not a fanboy and sometimes feel that I'm the only one not in love with them but....

You guys know that DVD's aren't training right? Most videos are meant to provide you with general info and serve as a primer for REAL training.....at a range...with a gun in your hands. You can't expect much from a video.

The value of the training you get from something depends on the quality of the source. Material in books, on the web and in videos can be a valuable a part of training, particularly if the concepts are new. You need to acquire the theory and principles from somewhere or you have nothing to go out and practice on the range. Even if you're taught it from a live instructor, you still need to go out and practice it afterwards. Acquiring the knowledge is a part of training, and just because it comes from a person next to you on a range does not automatically make it more valid than if it came from a video, a book or the web. Sometimes its less valid...

Live instructors don't always have the most up-to-date knowledge because many neglect to inform themselves of new equipment and new techniques. I've seen a reputable instructor try to teach new shooters to make corrections on his mil based FFP scope by calculating them out the way you do with an SFP scope. And to compound it, he was trying to convert everything to inches/MOA since he "didn't like the metric system". All that created was unnecessary confusion... Frankly, as hockey as it is, this video would have been better training source for that specific task. You don't have to be on a range to be taught that the corrections can be made in a much faster and easier way by just using the reticle. The video conveys this, and to many long range shooters that concept is still alien.
