I haven't watched the DVD's in question but i did watch a youtube clip of a course Costa was giving and that's what he was teaching (immediate transition to secondary weapon if one is present).

The videos are well done. There is a lot to be learned from watching them. The specific tactics and drills may or may not be best for everyone, in all circumstances.

It is pretty hard to beat time on a range with a qualified instructor. And then more range time to practice. It is all very well to read or watch, but it is really better to actually do.
 
I have the first video. The second video is enroute, I can't wait. Having been on gunfighting programmes, fighting rifle, and other carbine courses, I have to say, that videos, even well produced slick ones from magpul, are no substitute for in your face trg. The best magpul training dvd does not offer better skills then a mediocre live-fire course from insert imported tac rifle trg group here.

Having said that I do think that the first video is fantastic. I like that it was 'gender-neutral' as my wife called it. She sat through it, and learned a lot too. Which means to me, that this particular video may have been geared more for the civi market than the LE/MIL. HOwever I did learn a few new tricks that I haven't assimilated before that I will bring to the range next time. practice practice practice. That doesn't mean watch the video 40 times to osmosis it. It means putting 1500+ rounds downrange.

I've also seen some really s**tty trg videos. I won't name the yeager one. Lots of verbage, not enough demo (and there's something about gunfighters and big guts that just worries me a little). By far, magpul has an excellent product.

I am no carbine expert or anything like that, just saying that this video worked for me, and it got my wife interseted in it again. Having a few females in the video sure helped alot.

Was it me, or was the guy with the shorty pig flame comp jamming and dble feeding alot.

Oh, and I have Vol I and will be placing an order for Vol II. Great quality production and has some useful info.
 
ok, so I actually have something to contribute here. At one time it was thought by a number of people who's opinions I trust, that Costa and Co. were flash in a pan. Until said people I trust met them, and trained with them. They now believe Costa and Co to be the real deal, in fact better than most of the real deals out there. Who are the mysterious people I trust, meh, none of your business. but they are in the same business as Costa and Co, so that's good enough for me. Good enough in fact that I want to bring Costa and Co up here to Canada to teach, and will go to great lengths to achieve that. Just like I'm still trying to get Vickers up here.
I'll also be ordering my full set of DVD's once the CC is down below it's max limit.
 
Save the money. The torrent is super fast. It's like a weekend carbine class that was filmed but with some OPERATOR-level OPERATOR thrown in who raises his voice to seem more authoritative. Apart from that there's a painfully long segment about accessories, where the OPERATOR dude goes into detail about the intricacies of a vertical grip. Avoid this portion unless you're unemployed or retired. All in all, maybe 15 minutes of entertainment. 4/10. This video will not make you an OPERATOR and MagPul should go back to selling airsoft s**t and snowboarding apparel.
