Artillery projectile questions for the experts

I'm happy to see that others are still concerned about my safety in a post from 5 years ago. Fear not, no animals or people were injured in the creation of this thread. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the projectiles themselves. I wish I could have kept them, but it wasn't worth potentially having a crater where my house used to stand.

If any of 'em are live and they/it go(es) bang, it'll be the entire house, not just the back. I'd be calling your buddy and telling him you don't want 'em(Too badly corroded anyway) and he needs to call the CF to pick 'em up. Cops'll do the same thing but they'll be asking "Where'd you get 'em?". And panicing.

am I bad for thinking about this when read this thread

I remember the first day on the job with the blasting crew at a open pit mine. We were tying all the lines together and we were told that NO ONE was to walk in that area just tied in, we had these fuses that slowed the timing down just a split second. I noticed two of the foremen walking in the area I informed them to leave the area, and they informed me to mind my own business well I left the area till they left and finished tying in the blaster let me turn the device to blow the charges. We sat in a hoe bucket. I complained, was let go went to work in the bar in town much safer. That was about 50 years ago.

American Mk II Frag frenades are great things. If it is an early Mk II grenade, it is probably filled with an explosive known as "EC Powder". If EC Powder gets stuck in the threads of the grenade fuze, just the act of trying to unscrew (friction) the fuze could cause the main charge to detonate, best not screw with things you know nothing about, mainly because they can KILL you.

Did the guys ever get back to you on if they were actually live or not?

They figured when they came out that they were live. There wasn't too much question about it due to the fact that the driving bands had no marks, the fuzes were in place, and they were quite a bit heavier than the empty projectiles I already had.

Again, this happened 4-5 years ago! They were picked up by military EOD and taken away! It would be nice if you were to look at some of the previous posts before jumping on my back.

I think handling old rusty ordenance is an automatic nomination for the Darwin Awards.

I knew a girl,
Her name was Jill.
She used dynamite,
For a thrill.
We found her ######,
In North Carolina.
And bits of her tits in Brazil!

And thats why gawd invented "EOD" so someone could do it safely, that and the fact that firefighters needed heroes to look up to....... :):):)

Couldn't agree more.

Send in the droid: That's called intellegence.

"Hey, look what my buddy brought me".... f:P:
