As the title suggest if you as a retailer of current sport optics, and you could only have one, especially scopes, what would you choose? Clearly personal likes and experience would be influential but actual sales (profit), reliability, warranty support and actual delivery of product are considerations as well. Also does the line of scopes cover from entry level to high end? Another factor would be if there is an enforced MAP (minimum advertised price)...would that be a factor? Phil.

Probably should be Vortex. They have the most flushed out lineup with good competitiveness at every level.

Athlon and Leupold would be another two to consider.

You need one that has all the popular reticles.

I like the plain duplex reticle, in all magnifications,so it’s Leupold for me.
Maybe Sightron as an second option.

Bushnell has changed so much, it’s hard d to know what’s top end opposed to low end.
Vortex seems to be more geared towards PRS as do the other new stuff.

Clearly unless you are already a dealer and have info on profit margins, that 1st question would be difficult to answer. On profit alone, I think Vortex wins, but the other contributing factors would bring that down to bellow top spot.

I think the leupold line covers most of your base, and still have a decent warranty, albeit you hear the stories of more going back that in previous years. Hopefully that is not a trend that continues. Leupold has decent amount of following and is still sought out for clarity, plus their scope caps are awesome. To bad they are so hard to find in stock anywhere.

There are also not enough dealers around for some of the new non branded scopes that are still decent quality: Swampfox, primary arms, sightron to name a few.

I'd vote for Vortex too. Pretty wide range from low budget up to pretty decent quality stuff. Leupold would be my second choice but only because their lower end stuff might still be a bit much for people on a tight budget.

As someone who works/has worked in firearms sales for ~10 years now, that is a very tough vote, however I think it might just be Leupold.

Their product line is well rounded, they span a huge variety of price points, they offer solid in-country support, a decent dealer website with live inventory tracking, and they are a very respected name. I'm not as much a fan of their current lineup as some years past, but still- it's solid.

Most everyone knows and respects Leupold- something you can't say for pretty much any other optics company.

Most European offerings are too pricy to fit in a "budget" category, and often have pretty limited choices in reticles or configurations.

Most of the Asian-manufactured lines (Bushnell, Vortex, Athlon, etc.) offer broad product lines and good pricing, but have too many "brand haters" to make them a viable one-and-done choice for a retailer.

Ok so we have a member asking advice on selling a Single Brand of optics and you suggest VORTEX! Once again contradicting yourself. Youve stated you wouldnt buy this line in another thread for a bunch of unsubstantiated reasons like, Commission to staff, not great in your eyes and according to stories not likely to be useable when you hunt and taking so long the season would be over. Again all this from the guy thats never owned one . Now we are wondering about Leupold because of the STORIES youve heard. So I guess we are all to assume you are Intentionally steering the OP down an incorrect path because you dont like him. Talk about LOL. There are also numerous dealers on Nutz that sell Sightron and Primary Arms and Sightron is not new. I own Sightron optics that I bought over 10 years ago or more. Just out of curiosity what optics do you own? Ill post a pic of what I presently have If you will!!

Lol, you are like a dirty rag, but I see comprehension is NOT your strong point. Read my post again, then stop, pull your head out of the sand, then read it again. Hopefully then you can comprehend what I wrote, because others clearly can. Plus this is a different thread now, so keep up.

You can't change what others hear, and they will form an opinion about a product that way. You obviously don't get out much to talk with people, and by your comments we can see that, and when you do talk to someone I could see the conversation ending quickly. Like, quick are you done, I'm outta here! lol.

But again, thanks for offering this thread your great wisdom on optics. Keep up the great post count, and lol, great wisdom because you have somewhat of a feedback rating.

Sorry OP for the thread digression. Back to regular programming.

Well rags get dirty by the people that actually do the work. Hot air doesnt produce dirty rags. No experience! Judge things youve never owned by stories. Know nothing about what you discuss by ownership, use or experience!!! So whos living in storyland with their head stuck in the sand? Another new keyboard warrior with zero experince in the real shooting world. WELL thats what I. heard so its gottah be true. Still waiting for the pics optic hero. Both know thatll never happen LOL
