Wow got into a mess of shootable gophers today with a friend, he was using the Rem 597 HB 22 mag with the cheap 6-24 Tasco and me with the CZ .17 HMR. I was using the V-Shok TNT hollow points ooooo they can make a mess of a gophers internals, him the SuperX hollow points. Quite a difference in the whap that the 22 mag delivers on a gopher. Had a great time and this was the 3rd time we had visited this field.FS
 
sounds like it was alot of fun. How'd the .17s do to the 'fur' of the gophers?

Wish I was there.. but the only varmint rig I got at this moment is a t3 in 30-06 OR an SKS..
 
I <may> have a line on an Alberta-bound road trip to link up with a stranded old friend of mine later this summer (job has her there till late fall, at least) .... If it materialises I can only hope that some generous GunNut will allow me to join on a gopher extermination day, a unique opportunity for a Quebec resident ...

You bring your 30.06, I'll bring my .300 or 7mm, and we'll see who can make a gopher explode into the most pieces!

If the weather co operated here I could drive an hr or so in a couple of directions and shoot for a few days at a time .Been raining or windy the last while.Lotsa gophers in the Big Muddy, Hazenmore , Monmartre,and down by Minton and Gladmar areas.

The gopher doesn't explode into pieces, they disappear in a red steam mist!
