Hi,
I just bought a CZ 455 varmint 22 mag rifle, only for target shooting.
Could anybody recommend me which scope match the gun best? I'm noob :)
Thanks!

Ha, your about to get tons of different personal views.

So he's mine. If it's for target I like to be able to zoom right in and parallax adjustment is a must. But I like to shoot 1" squares at 200yds.
I would but anything on that less than x12 max maybe up to x16.
After that it's up to price for which brand. Most with have something in all price ranges.

That's a loaded question: What distance do you plan on shooting and how small a target? What's your budget? The sky is the limit with features and pricing.

Without knowing your exact preference a good starting point guide with centrefires is that the scope should at least cost as much as the base rifle. Features like FFP (first focal plane, good, fine cross-hairs, adjustable parallex etc) are almost a must for real long range. With a rimfire the cost *can* be considerably less..... stick with a reputable quality brand name like leupold etc as even their base models are very good scopes.

Call me a snob but there is next to nothing really good for long range on a rimfire under $500. There are lots of *ok* scopes less than $500 but if you only want to buy once and are looking for repeatability and quality that narrows the field significantly.

Only for target shooting? Parallax adjustment (adjustable objective or side focus) is a must so that you can see your target clearly, no matter what the distance. The more magnification the better. Others will say that 2-7 or 3-9 is ample for 50 yards, even one hundred, but those scopes are better suited for hunting. To those who successfully and regularly shoot half-inch groups at 50 yards with a 7X or 9X scope, I tip my hat. I shoot target only and the lowest magnification scope I have is 20X. Another important thing when choosing a scope for target shooting is to get a reticle with fine crosshairs; you don't want thick crosshairs to block out the bulls eye.

All this has to fit your budget, of course. The more you can spend, the better scope you can get.

I find that the higher the magnification, the better. I started at 12x, then went to 24 and finally 32x. The sightron 36x42 scope isn't too badly priced at under $700.

I now have a Leupold fx-3 6x competition hunter target AO on my CZ455 in 17hmr and I have a Leupold VXII 6-18x40 AO on my CZ452 American 22lr,
my next project is a CZ455 Varmint in 22lr with a SWFA 16X on that.

but I might have to trade that Leupold fx-3 6x Competition Hunter target AO for a 12x if I can find one.

Print a copy of the toonie target in the "not your average bullseye target thread, take to your favorite scope store. Pin it at 20 yrds from the counter and start searching. You can't hit what you can't see. Prob a min of 16x to a medium 24x will get the job done. The 3x9's are great for hunting but fail on those tiny paper critters. Thick crosshairs on some scopes will totally cover the aiming point. Good luck in your quest.

If you want inexpensive Sightron SIH 4-12X40 HHR AO.

^this. Check out Hirsch Precision, they're a sponsor of this sight. I bought this exact scope for my CZ, and it's been fantastic so far. Great scope for the $ if you ask me. If you'd care to see what they look like on my 452 Varmint in .22lr; http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...int-shoots-OK!-**UPDATE-photos-added-page-3**

I should add, that rifle/scope spent a full week shooting gophers in Alberta this past summer (best vacation plan ever btw :) ) and that was ALLOT of time/back-to-back days staring through that S1. No eye fatigue at all, glass seemed nice and bright, etc. Saw A-LOT of gophers knocked over, they didn't stand a chance. :)

I use a bushnell banner 4-12a/o on my 22 magnum. Its pretty decent for the money so ive been good with it for 10 years. I would have got a better one but i also shoot CASS, IDPA and 3 gun so funds are tight....lol. If i didnt have other hobbies i would have a leupold but i must say im very satisfied with it and ive looked through more expensive scopes, the reticle on the banner is actually quite fine.

You should also look into Hawke optics they have some very nice hold over scopes.

Another suggestion if you're not set on the high magnification is the Bushnell AR-22. It's a 2-7x, nice glass, good reticle, target turrets, and side focus down to 10 yards for up close targets. I have one and am really happy with it. Very good value, at well under $200.
