Assembling a M1 garand

Has anyone here assembled M1 garands from stripped receivers? Any tips?
Where could one find the barrel clamp, headspace gauges and chamber reamer?

Also has anyone bought the parts kit from ##### armoury ?

Gauges will cost 40-70

Tooling investment isn't worth it for a one time project. Knowledge is important. Read Kuhnhausen's comprehensive Shop Manual on the Garand and M14.

I would find vg/mint parts for complete kits and get a Garand Gunsmith to index barrel, bolt and receiver
There are a few guys that are very good at doing this
You end up with a gun that is as good as a lot of the Danish imports from 1980's
You also have a choice of 308 or 3006 when you buy the parts

I've built two now, your better off having a smith install the barrel, the rest is pretty straight forward. I paid my local smith 100$ to install and ream.

Both part kits I bought came from the that store, the first one the parts were in EXC/VG condition but the second kit had a lot of finish worn off the parts. Wondering if maybe their starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for parts. Parts arent hard to find, you could easily build a rifle off the EE.
