I recently acquired an astra 357 on CGN for very cheap. It had a timing issue which was solved once the revolver was stripped and fully cleaned, there was quite a bit of built up cr@p in there. I also changed the cylinder stop spring.

After all was said in done I noticed something strange on the hammer, a small crack that looked like a scratch, and upon dry firing with snap caps the hammer broke!

I cannot find a replacement on the net....It looks different from the S&W ones I have seen but maybe a smith one could be used to build it...

Can this be repaired? or can one be made?

If anyone has a spare Astra 357 hammer or knows a gunsmith who can fix this or forge one please PM me.

Thanks All!

I have seen something like this fixed.

The hammer I saw broke in similar fashion and got a pin at 90 degrees to the crack, clamped and brazed. Good for another 10,000 trigger pulls...

Someone else here will hopefully offer a good opinion on welding. TIG? Less heat into the part maybe.

Numrich is out of stock (would have cost about $85 with shipping / etc.)
