I have a Remington 700, not sure of what model, but it has a 22 inch barrel, detachable magazine, the most amazingly crisp and light trigger I have ever pulled on a Remington.......It's a late 70's vintage, and shows its age as it is no safe queen by any means, bluing is worn at the muzzle, stock has a few scratches, okay more then a few......a few scratches on the barrel...it was obviously a well carried rifle, the marks tell me that much of the story. It is chambered in 280 Remington..........

This is one of many from an estate, I am still sorting through boxes of brass and reloading dies, however this appears to be the only jewel in the crown out of the truck load of items that got dropped off...........

Looks like the mountain rifle version and someone added a clip conversion. Are you sure on the date? Mtn rifles started in the mid 80's I think, and that's not a factory dbm clip.
Worth 650 on a good day in condition you describe and with modification.

I'll have to rerun the serial number and date stamp on the barrel..........if it helps the serial number starts with C616.........

I bought one in similar condition a couple years ago and paid $600 shipped.

280s my favourite caliber.

If it is a " Kwik Klip" conversion, it might be worth abit less as people dont really seem to like that conversion?

Value, whatever a long action blued wood shooter will bring ......... $400.00 - $500.00

If it was marked 7mm Express /280 Remington it has more collector appeal .

Could be a mountain rifle with the tip on the forend and checkpiece on the classic style stock . Is the barrel a lighter then normal contour .

Great hunting rifle in that caliber.
