At long last joined the m305 crew, Update, Pics and issues.

That was a good idea, I measured it up with square, and another ruler, measured from the arm of the op rod all the way up
The tube, from the base of the tube to the end, it’s out 1mm from the base to the end, that probably is pretty close to what out at the op rod and gas tube.
Good call on than one, thanks 45ACPKING

you could also take two straight edges..... rulers, strips of straight wood.... metal bars ect… as long as they are very straight and about a foot or so long.
Place one along the oprod tube and one along the oprod arm and then compare parallelism.
I check the arm from the side and the top edge.
You want to see it nice and true.
This will rule out a bent oprod as a possible culprit of the contact between barrel and oprod saddle.
kinda came to me as an after thought but worth checking

Any chance of getting the date off this? 14 = 2014?

all we can glean from the serial number is the year of import to Canada. in this it appears to be 2014.
numbers below the stock line on the left side of the receiver can be deciphered to figure out a date of manufacture of the receiver but I don't have that knowledge in my head.
CGN member different is the guy for that task. In real life he is Lee Emerson, M14 historian..... google is your friend here.

look at the flash hider base. if you see a circle, that is where a hole was drilled, then filled with weld. the weld is pretty crappy. a Dremel can clean it out if you don't want to take a hammer to it.

Where did you get the Garand rear sight from?

Just on the EE. I paid $90 with shipping if I recall correctly. First I bought what I thought was a Garand sight but turned out it was from an M1A. I sold that one and I got the Garand sight. What a difference! Just felt heavier and of much nicer quality imo. No slop and very nice clicks on the adjustments compared to the M1A. The norc sight was junk.

personally, I'm going to behave as if the ban never happened and use my firearms for what I purchased them for.
Justin can kiss my @ss

but then again Justin granted me special privleges because I'm indigenous...... what a farce this government is.

Some people are more equal than others. It's written into our charter, FFS. I'd do it if I were you. Shame I can't claim status.

At least there's lots of crown land north of here...

Everyone needs to carry on as though it never happened. Status or not (you don't need to be indigenous to be a subsistence hunter btw) everyone affected needs to grow a pair.

My bad, really doesn't matter though.

It might matter...page 61 of the OIC has this info...
"In addition, 1.3 million Canadians participate in legal
hunting. These owners may also be affected if they have
been using a newly prohibited firearm that was previously
nonrestricted. If they have been using such a firearm for
sustenance hunting or to exercise a right affirmed in sec-
tion 35 of the Constitution, they may continue to use their
firearm for the same purpose, until the end of the amnesty
period."

So...make sure you have a hunting license!
