Went to the range today, and picked up a cheapo box of nork .45 ammo before shooting.
I commented to the salesman that it's dirty but seems to work well. Then mentioned that I'd purchased a Canammo 1000 round combo for my father for a Father's Day gift.
He proceeded to tell me that after the 1000 rounds were gone the pistol would be worn out as they're made out of pot metal. I held in the laugh.
What's frustrating is to hear such utter nonsense from someone that really should know what they're talking about. I have 5 various Nork's, and while they'll never win a beauty contest, they're definately not pot metal.
Now my pos chiappa 1911-22 is another matter entirely

Family owned business. The salesman is, I believe one of the sons. The brothers that own the business have always treated me very well. I really don't want to smear their name because one of their boys fed me a line of bull5h1t

Did you at least give the idiot an education?

At least tell one of the owners to give the kid a whack upside the head.

You are one awesome Son that would make any Father proud! I hope he was elated with his Fathers Day gift! I would have been ;)

Too bad you could not educate that salesman a little bit, Wilson Combat used to build a custom on the Norc frame, Ever seen a Wilson Combat Custom made of pot metal?

WOW ,tell the next pot metal clown, china gets it iron ore from canada like every one else, pot metal is an alloy of aluminum and other soft metals to make cast toys and decorations, that guy is out to lunch!!

I bet the guy tells other customers that some handguns are largely plastic too!

You missed an opportunity to change an opinion and educate someone, who unlike most on CGN does not yet know everything.

That requires at least 1000 posts.

Definitely not pot metal, but might not be consistent in hardness and quality of steel used. I have heard of some Norcs with chipped slide and frames. The bottom line is, you pay cheap, you get the quality for that level. Hit and miss I must say.

Sales staff are frequently long on BS and short on the facts aren't they. Unfortunately seems to apply to far too many industries.
^^ So true, just as an example...I was recently told "7.5 x55..hmm don't you mean 6.5....yeah you must mean 6.5, never heard of no 7.5". Unrelated, but goes to show. Good on you though for showing tact and respect in dealing with a less than knowledgable sales staff!! :)

Can you repeat this in English.
