I picked up some reloads from a reputable source to try out. The prices were definitely good: $16 for .357 $14 for .38sp. The .45 at $19 was a bit too much in my opinion, especially since there is still all that factory Norinco ammo floating around that works out to about $16.50 a box.

The .357 mag was flawless. I had about 3 FTE's in my .45 R1. With the .38 special there was one round where the bullet sat crooked and one casing that stuck out of the chamber to far preventing the cylinder from rotating. All in all not bad, 5 fails out of 150 rds is 97% success. I'll probably be back for more .38 and .357.

I haven't had issues with Custom Reloading's 9mm or .40, but 5 failures in 150 rounds is way too much in my opinion if they are just ammo related.

I'd tend to agree with this. I shoot commercially reloaded 9mm exclusively (Canadian BDX), and I have gone through hundreds of rounds without a single hiccup. I have also never experienced any issues with my own reloaded ammunition. I would expect the same from commercially reloaded products. When you think about it, why should there be any issues with reloaded ammunition when compared with factory ammunition except for perhaps the odd brass issue (the odd 'black sheep' will always find a way into the mix)?

I have stacks of .45ACP from them, and haven't had a single issue short of some of the flat nose not feeding in a 1911, but to be fair, that 1911 didn't like any flat nose.

Thanks,
Cal.

Factory reloaded ammunition should run just as well as factory ammo imo. Ive shot thousands of rounds of factory reloaded ammo and never had an issue with it. Having said that, are you sure the stoppages you've had in your R1 are ammo related?

Exactly. Before blaming the ammo I'd make sure it's not the guns. Whether it's the guns or the ammo the failure rate would be driving me crazy.

Im not trying to detract from the thread at all, but two of the guys I shoot with on a regular basis have R1's and Ive seen them both choke on numerous occasions. Out of the box they do seem to require a little tuning.

I have a R1 Enhanced that has had break in period. New or reloaded had FTFeed and FTE - the gun needs to be broken in. All guns need to be broken in. I only shoot my reloaded ammo and I have had no issues with any of my reloads. I stick with round nose ammo and keep all my OALs the same. Some times I use flat nose but I find flat noses need a shorter OAL than RN or they won't chamber.

I have never had a jam or any issues with my R1 for the last 2000 rounds.

My R1 is broken in and prior to this has never failed me before.....look, I m not looking to blame. A lot of people use Custom and are very happy with their product. I will shop there again too. This post was ment as a simple range report ane a reason to post a pic lol. Cheers.
