We have been working on the latest generation of our AT15 lowers and now have them finished and ready to go.
I posted a thread here a while ago on engraving preferences. We opted to do mostly all black as the response from CGN members was that all black was preferred, but for some of us still wanted to have the engraving done after black ano was done, so engraved some after black ano was done, then had them clear anoed to keep the oil and crud from use from making the engraving mucky.

The changes on this 3rd generation AT15 lower is that ALL the sharp edges are gone, the trigger bow is radiused, the safety does not use a pointed pin type detent, a ball bearing is employed which makes the safety MUCH smoother to operate. The safety detent spring is captured as is the rear take down pin spring, so less flying parts to go astray.
We kept the rear take down pin tensioner that was incorporated into all of our previous lowers.

With better machining times we have been able to reduce the price despite the increased costs of raw materials and added features to $500.00 for the stripped lower

A billet upper is in the works that will mate perfectly to these lowers. We hope to have them available in the next few weeks:D

Oh damn. Very nice.

Is there an extra cost to engrave after anodizing and clear it? Those are gorgeous.

Not for the engraving, just the added ano cost

I am thinking about using clear CeraKote to protect the engraving as our engraving is deep enough it should flow evenly when applied with a fine syringe. This would avoid the 2 step ano process which is something we do have to outsource at this time.

Gen 3

3rd Gen. looks awsome.....Damn, I might just have to dream up another build, ......must resist .....the urge...
Nice to see a canadian manufacturer listening to customers

Do you still have the option to do custom fire control symbols? In ambi?

Yes but only on the lowers that are anoed already, so they engraving will stand out in silver. We ran the majority as engraved then black anoed with HK style fire control markings. We have a few non engraved lowers left specifically for the purpose of custom engraving that stands out.

If you want all black it will require waiting until we run another batch of lowers, which could be a few months away being as we just got this run completed.

I checked out your website and have to say you guys have some SERIOUSLY nice hardware!!! Although, I don't think most of the crew on this site could ever afford any without selling off a few offspring, myself included. Still, VERY NICE GEAR!

I admit they look very nice, although I have to admit to being one of those guys who questions the utility of a billet lower in general (having never used one for a build, mind you). If anything, I'd have though the upper being billet would be far more relevant - is the lower not just a platform to hold the upper and fire control group? - it's rigidity is really unimportant in most ways from what I understand.

If I'm wrong though and there are benefits I'm overlooking, I'd be happy to hear about them. Might help me get excited enough about a billet lower to try one of these out.

PS: Just bought an AR15 barrel assembly from ATRS and they were awesome in the customer service dept - thanks guys!

The advantages of the billet lower is that it is possible to maintain better tolerances, the are heavier in construction, which should make them stronger just in case you are ever attacked by a paper target:rolleyes:

I agree with your thinking that to get the most benefit, from anyone's billet lower, a perfectly matched billet upper should be attached. The tighter the fit between upper and lower, the more accurate the rifle will be, assuming that a match quality barrel is employed.

Are these tight tolerance uppers and lowers better as a combat rifle? NOT a chance, but as a sporting rifle which is what the majority of us use these for they are capable of far superior accuracy than the basic Mil spec AR platform.

Ofcourse there is also the LCF to consider and that is always important.
