Alot of it is looks, but the strength argument does have some merit. I bought mine simply for looks, the finish, the shape, and the markings. I live in Alberta so having my receiver marked from Alberta defiantly added that cool factor. Billet lowers are pure ###, get one.

This new gen has come full circle with some new refinements. I like that they put the engravings on the right side again. The new rounded shape does look good but the old sharper shape wasn't bad either. The one thing I do like on my gen1 over this version is the engraving font. Overall it's a winner though (as usual)

No. North Eastern Arms or NEA is the company planning on bringing a sub-$1000.00 AR to market in Canada. Last time I spoke with the owner they were aiming for a late summer release. They'll be manufacturing at a much larger volume I would expect than what ATRS is doing. Both companies are turning out outstanding products. I have one of ATRS' first run of billet lowers. Looking at the pics above, I have an urge to pick up a Gen 3 copy as well.
 
Thanks X Man for the correction and ya they are really nice if I had the $ I would pick one up but being that I am new to the AR world I don't know much about the quality of different parts out there to build an affordable but good quality AR
 
But not being allowed to have an engraving in the full auto position makes no sense.

As long as the lever does not go to that position, why would there be a problem?

Full auto in Canada is a very small and rapidly shrinking group that can own them. Sometimes being "older" has advantages. B.U.M. is close friend but not old enough to hold 12-2 status hence my comment that mine can his can't. Sorry buddy a cheap shot I know:p

The FA marked version is only for demo purposes to agencies who can purchase them, normally they would prefer a less provocative marking:eek:

We have opted to NOT mark the 3 positions on civilian sales lowers, simply in order to prevent any LE official from potentially making claims that a person that does not have 12-2 status being in possession of a FA lower.

We all know that with little work and little knowledge this can be circumvented, but why troll for aggravation?

I am not aware of any black letter law that prohibits the 3rd positions marking, but we were cautioned by the RCMP lab guys to not put them on for civilian sales would be a good plan, so we agreed not to.

About 2 weeks we hope. They are just in final finish then off to ano.
We are figuring about $400.00 which is slightly more $$ than a Colt or DD but will fit that lower like a glove AND has the same fit, finish and attention to detail.

Yes a custom serial number can be done. You would have 6 alpha numeric digits to work with.

Without seeing the image it is hard to say whether it will work or not. Email me a Jpeg at the shop and I can better advise whether it can be done and how much $$ if we can do it.
