Hello everyone.
Just wondering who has experience with those rifle scopes?
Athlon 6-24x50 Argos BTR Tactical Rifle Scope, FFP
vs vortex diamondback tactical FFP 6-24.
Will be shooting at range 600 m. Maybe 1000 in the future. Will be installed on 308. In the future will be going on magnums 7mm/300.
What is your experience and why is one Better then other?
Thanks in advance.

I have a couple Diamondbacks one is 4-16 on a 22LR. The other is 6-24 on a 308. They are decent and get the job done. You can do 1000 yards with the Diamondbacks no problem the glass is good enough, pretty decent actually for the price. Probobly their weakest points is tracking but mine seem to be right on. And no zero stop which sucks dialing in 30 moa or more. I just use them on cheaper rifles and use them as floaters I can put on this gun or that. Utility scopes basically. My better rifles have Razor HD2 and Delta Stryker. I have the Diamondbacks so that I dont have to have another $5000-$10000 in glass kicking around just for fun shooting. I used the 6-24 Diamonback in competition and got 4th with it so it's good enough. But not my 1st choice by any means.

Athons seem to be doing very well and I think the Athlon is probobly better all around in that price range. And I hear nothing but good things about tracking on Athlons. If i was going to buy another cheaper scope i would try an Athlon myself. I will grab an Athlon eventually to check one out for sure.

Both have top of the line warranty so no worries there.

Thank you. And 4th place its awesome.

How do they compare price wise are these in the range? I just bought a diamond back tactical for my rimfire. Looking forward to trying out some lrprf matches this fall. Always had good luck with vortex. Have never needed warranty but feels good knowing it's there. Great to see we have many choices in quality optics at virtually any price range.

That's the problem with Athlon. There are really no brick and mortar stores that have them. So most of us cant see them until it arrives at your door.

Watch for a used Vortex Viper PST gen1.. I've bough 2x of them and they have both been decent, better glass then the diamond back for sure.. I was looking at the Athlons, Nikon black, Bushnell forge etc but I prefer the reticle in the vortex models by a huge margin.

I hear good things about the Diamondback Tactical's, and I think the glass looks nice for the price, but I would probably agree with this. I would try and pick up a used PST, or HS LR. Nicer glass, turrets and etched reticle

I think Athlon from Midas to below model are china made but still, very good glasses and tracking seems to be excellent as well from the videos circulating on youtube

Red star target has them in stock, They are located in Calgary. Its where I saw a bunch in person to compare em

Really? They don't seem to show any optics on their website? Maybe their website doesn't show everything they stock? No excuse for a business intending to survive in this economy not to.

All China made yes accept for the Chronus. But safe to say the best that has ever come out of China.

It os better glass for sure but it cost $850-1000

Made in China...not interested at those prices....just my thoughts though.

The new turret system in the Athlon Ares ETR and Midas TAC will impress anyone familiar with top tier scopes and how they track.

Yes, they are made in China but so is a huge range of high end/very technical products. The engineering is solid... the manf has been bang on and the results have been superb.

Athough they have the same no brainer lifetime warranty now offered as the first selling feature by some brands, I have not heard of many Athlon scopes going in for repair. As a competitive shooter, I don't want stuff that is prone to failure.

If you prefer Japanese manf, no problem can offer that too but it will be a lot more money.. but if you are ok with that extra investment, give me a PM or email.

Thanks

Jerry
