ATI stock on Lee Enfields any good?

I haven't seen any feed back on the ATI stocks for the LE what so ever, so I don't know what is the norm for these stocks. I can only speak for the one I bought for my No.4.

It didn't fit out of the box. The butt stock would not go in, and the fore stock was too long to fit on the action. The channel for the barrel was too small in diameter, and after I got things to fit, the mag well was too large to hold the magazine in tight. The trigger mechanism would not fit into its location either.

After four hours with a dremmel tool, files, and fiberglass filler, I got everthing to fit nice and tight.

Again, I don't know about how anyone else has fared with theirs, but that's what I ran into.

BTW it works for me.

Would I buy one again? I think so, but then I like tinkering and custom fitting things. If you buy one, you may be more fortunate than I.

I have one that came with an No. 5 I bought. Fortunately the original wood was included because the ATI is defective - bent in the vertical plane just in front of the action, so it can never come up quite to the barrel. Other than that is fits well. But I haven't heard any better about the other option, the Ram-Line. If I wanted another, I'd try another ATI because it has the monte carlo stock.

Hope you get a good one.

put on on a #3 and minor fitting ,noting like the previous poster .Just a little file work as I was a bit fussy other wise it fit ok .I did notice they make 2 versions so make sure you get the right one for your project .
Cheers Peter

They are excellent. Love the look and makes my 303 modern looking and not like an old army rifle. Bolts right on. Looks better than picture.

Will add this. Makes it alot nicer to shoot with the soft butt plate. I can use the same strap for all my rifles and crossbows now. I would do it again in a heart beat. I would have went a black stock but they were out of stock for ever so I went camo. It did take a little bit of filing to fit. Shoots as good as it ever did with the new stock.

The original wood stocks served very well through two world wars and uncountable smaller ones for hunting game like Nazis. I doubt some plastic made in China POS will serve you as well.

I think they are made in the U.S.

But I only have one because it was already on the gun when I bought it. I don't think I'll bother with another, as I agree with you about the wood.

I think the attraction to the ATI is the monte carlo stock (high cheek piece for scope) and the price of the ATI makes it a reasonable option for an old bubba'd $150 sporter.

Just thought Id mention that for any wood loving, china hating fudd's wondering about such blasphemy.
:D

I got a nice cheap Mosin Nagant M44 From SIR in '06 and put an ATI stock on it
and it fit good and snug and really shrunk the group sizes down when compared to the
wood stock. For folks that subject their guns to a lot of wet hunting conditions, I
feel that these are a good deal.

Hey, the rifle is the OP's personal property, and he can do whatever he wants to it, just like he can do whatever he wants to his own sheep, so long has he realizes that ####ing sheep is a more socially acceptable
activity than permanently damaging milsurps.
