Iraqveteran8888 did a booth review at Shot Show with ATI, & in it he looks at a drop in furniture kit to make your 10/22 take-down rifle look like an AK47.
***Skip to the 9:00 mark for the segment about the 10/22-AK***
Have a look:

It would be difficult to prohib a dressup kit. Its not a firearm. The firearm is a normal 10/22. I had one of the krinker plinker kits for a while. Same kind of thing.

Remember in another thread Hamilton Police talking about making something look like something else.

I handled the AR stock today at the booth, seems pretty solid, the charging handle of course doesn't move, it's just for show. The foregrip/barrel shroud on it is aluminium, the rest is a polymer, but they somehow sprayed it to make it "feel" like aluminium. I had to ask the guy if it was in fact aluminium.

The AK stock on display was just an early prototype, but it felt pretty good too.

While I love "tactical" firearms, I don't really get the appeal of these style stocks for a 10/22. I owned (and sold) a ruger SR22, while I will say it was a solid, well built, and very cool looking gun, it was completely impractical. All it did was add weight and bulk to a firearm that performs great without all that. I don't see what these aftermarket kits add as far as usefulness. IMO the most tactical Ruger 10/22 you can have is one with the factory lightweight synthetic stock, its light and slim, which makes it quick to handle and nimble. I can understand putting a thin folding stock or a pistol grip, but as far as these huge bulky stocks I don't get it.

Making a bench target rifle is another thing entirely however, or if you prefer a classic wood/laminate stock.

But that's just my opinion, great to see options on the market though!

I like the AR stock. It kinda brings back that feel you get from the mossberg 715t. Since their 25rd mag is prohibited now however, this option still has that possibility for 25rd mags and an AR feel.

I think ill buy a 10-22 just to get that ar stock. And the 715t mags are not prohib yet as far as ive read
