Atlas trap throwers

One of the Directors at our club suggested we buy one of the 250 models. Apparently, as in brain surgery, there is no such thing as a bargain. We have had plenty of problems, and a variety of them.

I think for an individual, they are fine, but for any volume at all,...questionable.

We have 4 of the AT50's for fairly low volume supplementary stations on sporting clays shoots at our club and no issues. I do not think they would stand regular use like for skeet or trap as they are failry cheap units, but work ok for us.

autosporters are in our trap house and for our regular sporting use.

Atlas

We have both the AT-50 (5 stand) and a Traploader. Check out the trap loader website for more info. I have installed two of them (traploaders) and both have worked well. The AT-50 is a good machine but only holds 50-75 targets the trap loader will hold 270. The AT-50 would be more suited to a sporting course or private use, I have had no issues with either setup.

Wapiti gun club in Grande Prairie, AB has several Atlas traps along with several high end traps. When they first purchased the atlas traps (about 15 of them) they had timing/clearance issues and breaking target issues. They changed from Caldwell targets to Lawrey targets that are harder in compound and had Scott from Atlas fly in for a weekend and cure the timing and target carusel clearance issues. They now throw great targets and I mean lots of them (1000's) with very little issues both on 12v and 110v. Portable, priced right (landing them for approx $1700can) great for a new sporting clays/ trap back up trap.

I have a 250 which we use on our 5 stand field. I've had it 4-5 years and it works very well. Scott is a real help with any problems. He's sent extra springs and a bigger motor at no cost. I bought mine while he was using the lighter spring and motor. He upgraded mine free.

You have to be careful with the throwing arm. It's easy to bend out of place, but just as easy to bend back if you know what you are looking for.

It throws targets without much fuss. Just throws and throws. Even re-throws opick ups with no problem.

The throwing arm is the landing platform, so when you get a broken bird, it throws all the pieces away, so the machine clears itself.
