ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Finally found a bit of time to hit the range late PM today. Her first time so oiled her up real good and fired a few break in shots at 50 yard, also to bring the POI on the paper.
Ran the brush in the bore after shot #3, #8 and 15 to detect if any copper was accumulating. No blueish-greenish patches so was pretty pleased.

The mag fed the rounds well and the bolt chambered them flawlessly. That said, man everything is so tight: even pissing lubricant from everywhere, holding back a little on the charging lever would stop the forward course of the BCG!! Letting it go from the back is what it took.

Absolutely no BS, here are the very first 7 shots at 100 yards, including 3 to establish the 100yd zero

Only had time to shoot a box of 20 rounds as I was getting cold and sun was about to set. Here is my 3rd and last target of the day:

I was shooting surplus Hirtenberger. Top quality plinking ammo IMHO. I am not a great shooter (nervous wreck) so judge by yourself.

I'm extremely pleased with the rifle. I love it. A keeper.

Thank you ATRS, your fine product makes me real happy.

I had a longer review post but it got lost in cyber space . So this is going to be shortened . Took the rifle out this weekend , put about 40 rounds through it . Functioned flawlessly . Range varied from 100-800 metres . Winds were about 3-4 mph full value . With wind I was able to keep around 1moa . So happy with the rifle . Two thumbs up . I'm not a bench rest shooter and didn't bring the equipment this weekend to shoot tiny groups . Three rounds touching cloverleaf at 100m but didn't measure it as that's close enough for me . When properly set up I'll shoot accuracy groups .

Great to hear! What were you using for ammo?

Beautiful rifle! I was wondering what was your thoughts on the Sierra S7 bipod and the claw feets?

Thanks.
Very sturdy bipod, but not a cheap option. It takes more strength than usual to lower/raised legs but absolutely no movement once set into position. Allows pan & cant adjustments, great for tracking a moving game. Claw feet are very aggressive to contact surface, they dig - kitchen table and thigh warning... I like them. Extra leg options (with rubber feet) are available on their website. Got it from ATRS.

Hi, first I'd like to say that we really don't want anyone to feel like they got a lemon. The best means of addressing concerns is via email to info@albertatacticalrifle.com to see what solutions are available.

There is ongoing research into the charging handles, we found the magnets worked for a majority of people, but further research into spring systems and designs is ongoing. If you have an interesting idea for something you would like to see down the road, ideas are always welcome, but of course not every idea comes to fruition.

For your concern regarding the gas block, I would recommend sending an email to the above listed address to inquire.

Took my MH out for the first time. I used my tripod thinking it would be the be-all and end-all, it's not. I shot one group and shut it down. Considering I was swaying and bobbing over a foot, I still got 1.5 MOA.

You guys should return your rifle to ATRS and ask them to fix the issues.

It's not to you to have to find a way to fix it.
Sorry but guns of this price are supose to run perfectly.

I have already discussed dropping my rifle off for the day with Rick when my MV is ready, and that way the CH issue can be looked at, and the cam pin can be addressed.

I have no doubt Rick will look after me if I ensure he has it for a suitable amount of time.

Mine doesn't lock into place most of the time unless I make the effort and push it into place . Doesn't bother me as it didn't seem to effect anything , other than look out of place . Once in place I haven't had it come loose . Mine does have the magnet . Is it possible to shave some of the handguard if it's contacting the gas tube ? I'm sure the boys at ATRS will address any issues that arrive .

First trip out to the range. I'm not the best marksmen so take that with a grain of salt, I'm sure I can shrink the groups more. I subtracted .264 on the caliper already. Shot off of a sandbag. Worst group was 1.5 MOA, but it was most likely a flier.

That is pretty much how mine shoots too. I am hoping with some load development to get a more consistent .5 0r .6 MOA.
You are a brave person for posting groups given the amount of negativity I have seen on the forums when these guns are spoken of.

I think people are getting bad groups because of user error and/or factory ammo. I am not a precision reloader and shooter and I got these groups.

If it shot poor I would post results too. I would hate for someone to buy a $6k+ rifle and have mediocre results when I could have said something.

Not sure how anyone could say anything negative from .6 MOA especially from a semi-auto. I'm really happy. The critics will soon chime in that it's not 5 round groups.

Hello,

I figured that I would post an update on my rifle. I've only had the opportunity to take her out a few times so far. I am impressed with her performance in my inexperienced rifle-shooting hands.

To recap, it's a 308 with the 20" Proof barrel. I'm running a Vortex HS-T 4-16 for the optic.

When I do my part, the rifle seems to stack rounds pretty well.

I've only had a couple of issues over the course of 300 rounds.
1. The screws holding the charging handle "track" in place came loose and required tightening.
2. Cheap Winchester Power Max Bonded 150 grain ammo seems to have a projectile with a contour that my chamber throat does not like. I tried to eject an unfired round using the charging handle. The cartridge got jammed and I had to forcibly pull on the charging handle which pulled the bullet from the cartridge. I then had to use my Otis obstruction remover to tap the bullet out (which worked well to my surprise).

I have not had any issues with any other ammunition that I have tested.

I apologize for the non-grid targets. All I could find that morning were shoot and see adhesive targets.

In summary, she's a blast to shoot. The recoil feels soft for 308 and the accuracy potential is greater than what I can provide at the moment.
