Hey folks, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I ordered a modern sporter receiver set in January this year while waiting for my PAL. I had assumed that I would have my license by now and told them this, my plan was that if I didn't have my license, I would have it sent to my friend for safe keeping til then. The problem is that this rifle is now a prohib and they are ready to ship to me, but I'm still waiting on the BC CFO for my pal. What the heck do I do now?

Call the CFO and figure out what the hold up is. Since January is a long ass time to wait for it.

I'd be contacting atrs once you have that answer.

If you trust the friend, see if ATRS would change the buyer information on the receipt. Have it addressed to your friend until your PAL sorts out.

Then I would see if ATRS will simply hold it for you until you have your PAL, I can't see it taking too much longer now. Last time I renewed, seems like it was about a 6-month wait, yours is going on a 12-month wait (which is completely unacceptable, but there really isn't any other recourse). This should be a lesson to everyone not to procrastinate when renewing, as you could easily find yourself without a license for awhile (not a good situation).

Why should ATRS not take his order.
He dont get the gun until he shows proof of PAl.

Also,the MS is not Prohibited

Just go and get yourself a MAC-10 in Surrey to hold you over until you get your PAL. :) Or Heck go to OKA and get yourself an AK. Either way its win win.

^^^ agreed 100%. While the AT-15 is banned, the MS was NOT listed by name on the May 1st OIC... and those who has access to piss around with the FRT after May 1st had no authorization to so.

Furthermore, if you do end up inquiring on the status of your PAL, the do NOT tell them that you are waiting to receive ownership of a gun pending the processing of your PAL.
I suspect no good result will come your way if they know that information.

Lastly, now that you're a soon-to-be MS owner, you should contribute to the ATRS Legal Fund as Rick, Shaun and the rest of them are good folks.
Especially since they doing you a solid until you have your sh#t sorted out with the firearms program

Same.. Also if the gun is prohib, then they wouldn't be able to ship it to the customer, and would get a refund.

Something fishy..

Nothing fishy at all.

If the Modern Sporter is prohib, then why are so many NIB & used receiver sets (and complete builds) been sold on the EE?

Several have been sold since May 1st... I don't recall any reported posts of people falling into sting operations with authorities.

I do believe it's one of the guns that have had the FRT changed since the OIC. Now that doesn't specifically make it a prohib but it does add to the complexity of it all.

Ok, so a few things to add. ATRS was fully aware of my situation at the time of purchase, and yes it is fully paid for. As far as donation to the legal fund, absolutely going to be doing it. I have been donating to the CCFR fund and would be more than happy to help the folks over at ATRS with this crap. I have contacted my MP (who is an NDP) in regards to my wait time, but I don't expect a response any time soon.
