Today i received my new sheep hunting rig from the gentleman at Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply.

I have never been this excited about a purchase before.

I stumbled into ATRS in January looking for brass for my wife's 6.5 Creedmoor. After chatting with Rick about the benefits of carbon fibre barrels, i ordered a custom hunting gun on a total whim.

The gun i ordered is chambered in .280 AI and features a Carbon Fibre McMillian Hunter Edge Stock, Proof Research Barrel, Timney trigger, all on a Rem 700 Action. I ordered a Swarovski Z5 from Omer at Precision Optics.

The gun is simple, lightweight and perfect for what i need. Total weight with scope is 8.5 Pounds.

I cannot begin to thank the boys at Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply enough for how amazing this gun turned out.

I cannot wait to throw some lead down range working up a load for this beautiful rifle.

I will post pictures first thing tomorrow...

Since when are McMillan Edges carbon fibre, mine are graphite.

I have a carbon fiber A3 sporter edge tech stock on my carbon hunting rifleImageUploadedByCanadianGunNutz1468298783.949473.jpg

This is the twin to mine only this one is a 243. But it's a carbon fiber stock

Congrats on your new build by the way!

Just over 7.5 Pounds.. Which, as it has already been said, isnt that light compared to some of the "ultralight" guns out there but its perfect for what i need.

That's starlingly heavy, a standard weight rifle really. My Kimber .280AI weighs 5.3lbs with the same length barrel for comparison.

As long as it shoots and you like it, good stuff.

How do all those ultralight bits add up to such a heavy "ultralight" rifle? Is ATRS new at building this type of gun?

Patrick

I never said it was ultralight, or that i was going for a the ultra light feel. I had a NULA for a while and found that it didnt shoot as good as i would have hoped due to the "ultralightness" of it. Personally i think 8.5 pounds is perfect for what i am using it for.

NO-ONE is claiming this rifle is an "ultra lite". The parts weigh what the parts weigh. Why all the negativity? The OP is a happy camper, he got exactly what he wanted.

its crazy. this and another forum that i shared this beautiful rifle on had people boo hooing the gun. I personally could careless. "A lion (and his new .280AI) never loose sleep over the opinions of sheep"
