ATT and antique pistols, is it required?

Hi, I'm about to get my first antique pistol and I'm looking into the regs to understand whats involved with the ownership, transportation and storage etc...

If someone owns an antique but has no PAL, do they need an ATT to transport it to a range? If this is the case, will the CFC issue ATT's for antiques to people that do not have a PAL?

This does not apply to me as I have a PAL and ATT, but I might want to give an antique as a gift to to someone who does not have all this paperwork etc...

You dont need and ATT for any Perscribed Antique Revolver or pistol.
No Licence or Registration either.

Under the Firearms Act, antique firearms must be stored, displayed and transported unloaded.

If you are transporting your antique firearms and need to leave them unattended*, leave them in your vehicle’s locked trunk or similar compartment. If your vehicle does not have a trunk or compartment, lock the vehicle and leave the antique firearms inside and out of sight.

Antique handguns must be locked in a heavy-duty, non-see-through container that cannot be easily broken open during transportation.

* Unattended means a vehicle that is not under the direct and immediate supervision of an adult (18 years of age or older) or a minor (with a minor’s licence).

I take my webley wg army or my mk 1 gopher shooting but carry a copy of my de-registration papers with me just because I know it is an antique does not mean the rcmp officer who saw me in the field or stops me for speeding knows it's an antique . for my rolling block I printed off the FRT report that shows it to be antique problem is not all antique pistols are on the table .Unless the officer is a collector most dont know and you may have it siezed unless you can provide papers untill they can contact a verifyer.
