I'm trying to attach an AR or similar full size quad rail to just a regular barrel, maybe between half inch to three quarters thick in diameter, they r designed for the traditional ar bolt and I can't seem to come up with a way to attach it while making sure it sits straight on the gun? Any help would be awesome

Yea really not sure what you're trying to say here. By traditional AR bolt, do you mean the delta ring?

Also manufacturers and model of your rails would help

I think what he means is that he's using a rail system designed for an AR15, and wants to mount it on a platform that is NOT an AR15. That's just my guess.

If THIS is what the OP is doing, then you're looking at a custom made part as pretty much your only option. If you know a buddy that works at a machine shop, you may be able to do it for a decent price if you supply said machinist with some beer (I have heard they run on beer).

Otherwise, you may be sort of out of luck... Is this going on something like a bolt action rifle?

Spec's man, we need Spec's! Rifle manufacturer and model number, exact barrel diameter at rearmost point etc....

Ya that's exactly what I'm going to have to do, my plan is on my tactical .22 to chop off the front plastic rails and mounts a metal quad rail so I guess machine shop is my best bet, thanks for the help, of course I would of preferred something I could have done myself but I guess I'll have to spend real money ;)

You could epoxy/silver solder an AR barrel nut to the receiver, then attach the rail set up to the barrel nut. Some of the autobody panel adhesives available are stronger than the steel they bond to.

There probably is a way you can do it yourself if you can find the right rail system and have the proper tools.

I installed a free floating forearm 1/2 rail system on my Remington 7400 in .243 and the increase in accuracy was amazing. This is a picture of the full rail system.

This is my rifle with the half rail.

I got the forearm from Accuarcy Systems Inc.

The forearm is attached to the rifle's receiver using the pre drilled and tapped scope mounting holes. The forearm itself is machined for the contours of the receiver contact points. It is a steady, rock solid mount and I was amazed at the fit.

If this is what you have in mind, and with all of the different types of rail systems on the market, there might be something that you could adapt if your receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The Accuracy Systems setup won't do but there might be something.

Without knowing what type of .22 you want to mod we can't really point you in the right direction.

It's called tactical .22 from mossberg, I think enefgee or whatever had a good idea of welding the bolt to the barrel

Oh yea those... just hit up the rim fire forums, plenty of tricked out mossy's there. I'd have gotten the Ruger SR22 though, my buddy some how managed to put 3rd party rails on his.

Turf;

How do you like this setup? I saw the pic of your gun on the Accurcay Systems website and tried to email the address associated but it was a dead link. I've ordered a Mesa Tactical stock adapter for my 7400 but have yet to order the fore-end.
