A friend of mine was out hunting the first week of the hunt. He was not using scent lure, but was part of an organized drive. He was basically ambushed by a 10 point buck, which pinned his arm to a tree. He could not use his rifle because it was leaning beside his pinned arm. He ended up slitting the deers throat with his knife. I got this account from one of his co-hunters who heard him yelling and came to see WTF was going on. I can hardly wait to see my buddy so I can rag his ass about letting a deer sneak up, and attack him.

If it was in Lanark I am not overly stunned... deer thick as theives out there.

But I must say: :needPics:
Yea, to both. It was just east of Lanark in deer central and apparently there were pictures taken of the aftermath which I am definitely going to try to get my hands on.

Well, deer are probably faster than zombies, so something close range, mabye something that you can shoot one handed! Bayonet on a pistol grip shotgun maybe?!

Anyone else remember the story of the fly fisherman who was attacked by a buck, he ended up choking it with his belt.

He was fighting the authorities to keep the animal, last I heard he was losing.

This was a few years ago too.

Several years ago I shot a mulie buck a wee bit back of the placement I wanted. It ran up a steep hill and my buddy and I followed. The hill turned into a cliff and my friend was walking along a narrow foot wide trail about 100 feet up from the bottom. He spotted the deer hiding in a small area where the ledge widened. As he shot the deer moved with the result his shot went through the big flappy ear that mulies have. The deer then decided to leave the small bowl he was in and seeing as the narrow ledge was the only way out it came right at my hunting partner.

With a modern rifle it would have been an easy shot however we were carrying our muzzle loaders. Bruce backed up and frantically tried to do a world record speed reload. Being down at the bottom and unable to get a shot for fear of hitting him I thought a little encouragement was in order so I yelled up at him, "Put in the clip and shoot him again."

As he was faced with a decision between standing his ground at what appeared to be a charging buck or taking a hundred foot fall he failled to see things the same way I did.

Thankfully the deer made a sharp cut up hill when about 5 feet away.
