thank god I am from the part of ontario where gun owners and hunters are the overwhelming majority. Ontario's alberta, or texas if you will.

hopefully my petition to join alberta sees some results soon

We had a lady that wanted to ban hunting in my township last winter. There was a town meeting. That lady looked like the biggest idiot when it was all over and done with. The lady said she was sick of trespassers and said she was shot at by hunters(didnt report ANY of it) and said she didnt feel safe in on her property. (she moved here from downtown hamilton and figured she owned the township now). Well it was about 250 against one. Guess who won?? that lady never made another complaint and left that town meeting looking like the biggest donkey this side of the border

I just sent a letter about this to the mayor & MP of the area...

Wow... This paranoid nutbar really makes a person wonder where they keep coming from... I mean really. Worried about what hunters WEAR??? Me thinks someone has a teeny bit too limp wristed/liberal a view on this whole thing!

Revered Mayor,

Please accept this email as my sincerest vote AGAINST a ban of hunting coyote and wolves in Tiny Township. This petition, as I'm sure you recognize, is simply a sample of the loud minority. For example:

“A few hunters have commented that they don't even bother hunting in Tiny Township, or anywhere locally because it is too populated, and thus too risky. Some of these hunters have gladly signed the petition and are in agreement with its message,” Leeming said.

"A few hunters" is right. If you were to pull records of all hunters within Tiny Township and surrounding area, I am confident that they would disagree with the proposed ban. Please do not allow the minority to speak for the majority. You have access to information regarding the number of hunting accidents/firearms accidents that occurred within recent history, and there are more important issues to be addressed than this, as you know!

If it's about public safety, we, as a community, province, and country should be focusing on the real "killers" --which I am sure you're familiar with.

Please don't contribute to the further destruction of the shooting sports, and hunting. The community of firearm owners is already under fire (excuse the pun) due to other unreasonable claims. We both know that firearm deaths and accidents occur, the _VAST_ majority of the time, with illegally obtained firearms. People who are going to break the law don't care about a ban, at any rate.

I fear that many supporters of this ban simply aren't aware of how little firearms in their county affect them, and how little firearms really contribute to the detriment of firearms safety. I fear that they support the ban simply because they are unaware, and uneducated. We need to educate the people.

Instead of instating a ban that will provide the citizens with a false sense of security, what do you think about educating them about how safe their township already really is, and how firearms cause virtually no harm?

Heck, for all we know, those "swat looking guys" were recreational paintball enthusiasts!!! I would be very delighted to hear back from you regarding this topic, if you have time.

Thank you for diligence in this matter, Mayor.
