Attention BC Residents!

Greatest concern the NDP getting in? Now there is even a better JOKE! Ain't going to happen - you know, I know it, and those reading this know it.

And perhaps that leads to the frustration I noted above. This initiative is Non-Partisan as stated.

If that's truly the case, then one would have to question the timing of this petition.
Being involved in the outfitting industry for 30 years+ in a province that adores the NDP, I can tell you from personal experience that things will go downhill in a hurry should they be elected. Work with the current government, don't antagonize them, because if the NDP gets in, all of your resolutions will fall on deaf ears.

Whether or not resource extraction is a big issue is debatable and I'm not getting into it.
In my world what kills wildlife is the CPR. As in dozens of animals a week or more.
Who the hell fights the railway in this country?

Summary: Don't make any noise because the status quo is ok.

So the BCWF is out to lunch?

You clearly have more energy and fewer kids than I do, I'm too spent for a proper #### flinging and I now sense your interest in it. I can be a mite slow on the uptake. No, they're not and I have a great deal of respect for the BCWF. I also have concerns, I'd be a flag waving member and would even propose a fee I'd charge hunters in support of them if the anti-outfitter aspects were cut out. I also understand where it came from and I opposed the allocation revision attempt as an outfitter and resident. This said the allocation stuff also gets drastically blown out of proportion too, as while it wasn't a good move it was far, far smaller than most think (the entire elk allocation shift in your home / Van Isle amounted to three elk- island wide). I recognise the fury whipping here again. They were reversed, and rightfully, but affected largely extremely low harvest LEHs. The principle was wrong, the numbers were underwhelming, and I'm afraid I don't feel like fighting tonight. Scotch is better, perhaps after we can fight.

So you agree with me regarding the BCWF in general and supporting wildlife. That's a good start. We are arguing in agreement. Enjoy your scotch.

First: Apologies if I came across as "hostile", that was never my intent.
This issue is one that is very close to my heart, and at times I can get a little carried away in such matters.
No excuses, simply noting the why...

I strongly believe this BCWF initiative to be very sound, and in fact if it were adopted, could present one of the best things that ever happened to BC wild life & lands. It is for that (and no other) reason I brought it here for your consideration.

I hope a good number of the folks who see this will feel the same, and help build the petition's numbers sufficiently such that government recognizes we all consider this an issue worthy of pursuit.

Thanks,
Nog

Thank you, I appreciate the change in the tone of your delivery. I hope the initiative goes well for BC wildlife and outdoorsmen/women alike. I have been actively and politically involved in seeking the same sort of changes here in Ontario. We were successful several years ago having our licencing fees allocated to wildlife initiatives instead of being dumped in the general coffer.

I'd also like to say to the OP, I admire your concern and dedication to wildlife in BC, but in my opinion the rhetoric should be cooled off a good deal. And the fight we all really need to be fighting is making sure the NDP doesn't get elected again. H4831 is right there, he spent his life as a bush pilot in the north, even wrote a book about it. He isn't talking out of his arse is what I'm saying, and I agree with him.

do you even have a clue who IronNoggin is my friend?

regardless.... i agree, the NDP is not the answer but christi clark sure as hell isn't either. I believe we will see the end of "public access" big game hunting and only guide outfitting and and end to lawful firearm ownership in canada, in my lifetime, regardless of who one votes for. I'm 48 this year.... I give it "maybe" another decade.

Things will get interesting this year. There is a lot of MNR meetings these days about crown leases and habitat when it comes to ranchers running their cattle on the leases. It's tough to go to every single meeting, there is a lot of crossover, and doubling up on topics in these meetings. So much so that it is difficult to keep it all straight.

My head is starting to hurt. All the organizations I hope will get together to present a SINGLE cohesive plan endorsed by all agencies that can be followed by the layperson.

While I tend to be suspicious whenever a government offers up anything so close to an impending election, this just might represent the baby steps required to get things back on track:

I would suggest we keep hammering on the Petition and remind them this is one election promise they DON'T want to forget...

Cheers,
Nog

We're all happy about this, and I was particularly happy to see BCWF, GOABC, and BCTA mentioned all together positively for the first time in awhile. Admittedly impressed, and I signed the petition. Hopefully BCWF and outfitters can work together.
