ATTENTION COLT CANADA WE WANT 1911's!!!

You can't beat the old series 70 colts and older for quality. The time to buy colts was when everyone thought that 15 rounds
of 9mm beat a full mag in a colt 45. I purchased many great colt series 70 and gold cups cheap because no one wanted them.
Colt had gotten into providing retro kits to convert these guns into great combat shooters. I got complete slides with high profile sights
that you could change up your pistol. Colt marked these slides "Colt Combat". They did a lot for the 45 owner then. No one supported
their effort. The SAA revolvers had the same issue. Their custom shop turned out a great product.

I know this will sound like Blasphemy but if Colt came up with a double action, hammer block frame mounted safety they could win some military contracts.
I would buy one and put it in the safe with my Beretta.

That's probably because it's true.

they did, cold double eagle, sold like edsels..heavy, clunky and not particularly ergonomic...they didn't last long...shot one, well made and they work but they're where many better TDA's available at the time, and the only colt handguns any one buys are the "traditional" ones...colt doesn't innovate because it's not they're market....someone compared them the HD....very apt..they both make money cashing in on nostalgia.

I realize colt canada is a small operation, but by no means should any out of the box 1911 be $5000+. Thats just ridiculous!
Look at dlask for example. You can get a high end, completely custom 1911 for 2500 or less, (or a little more if you add more bells and whistles)
But its a very amazing quality canadian made gun.

As far as the comment "making AR's is easier than making a 1911, i call BS!"

Less metal, less tool work, less hours....

Never worth 5000$

Colt Canada's approach to firearms construction is not like many other firearms manufacturers.

They do destructive testing on 3% of their rifle barrels, for example. 3 out of every hundred they make get pulled off the line and destroyed to make sure thrre are no deviations in quality. And they use a proprietary process to manufacture those barrels in the first place.

No ordinary manufacturer is as thorough or as obsessive. A Dlask would not even remotely compare.
