Thanks Mauser98, that rifle is on hold for me!

But a fellow from Nitro Express.com just emailed me and confirmed that it is definitely NOT a Type S. There are several reasons for this, the first being that the Type S did not come in anything more stout than a 9x57.

Next, the rifle for sale has a gloss finish, which was not available. It also has skip-line checkering, which was not available on the Type S. Live and learn!
 
It is an Oberndorf Mauser, full stock, and very rare. I like these old rifles because to me they have tons of character. I also like the style and nostalgia.
