Okay Trades experts:

Ever seen or heard of a Hand Knurling Tool, like this one: Knurlmaster Hand Knurler by Eagle Rock USA ? Google (image) it and see if you know of a source here in Canada. You guys are the industrial tool specialists and I would rather buy/find/purchase/ have it shipped from Canada.

What's it for? Tightening them loose op rod guides without beating on the barrel with a center punch and ball peen hammer. :D

What say you Trades Experts? I know we got a shztload of trades folks here excited about working on their M14/M1A/ LRB/SEI/ SAI platforms! :)

Cheers and keep helping them nooobs around here!

I've got a couple different ones.. One says US property on the handle hehehe.. Not sure the brand and I'm on the couch for rest of the day.
Hard to get a good knurl on most chinese barrels but the knurling tools are fantastic on the krieger CM and Criterion barrels.
Don't panic tho, a careful hand with an auto punch will come pretty close for average joe at home who needs to tighten up an shaky oprod guide.

center punch and auto punch work okay, but use a line punch and make your lines run at a angle to the op rod, they tend to hold better then lines cut in line with the rod, as for knurling the same thing applies, use a right or left knurl and try to stay away from straight knurls......

But I know Barney knows that...............

auklands granger
KBC tools

my lathe knurling set up is US made, eagle brand from KBC tools and has the diagonal inserts as well as straight.
I think KBC and auklands will have the hand knurling ones though.......
I'm renting a room to my machinist so will find out where he goes when he gets back from the shop , these can't be that hard to find.
I don't use my US property hand knurling tool, it's old and a collectable item to me :D

YES! $40 but they won't let me create an account since I ain't in the US of A! :(

Keep them thoughts coming! :dancingbanana:

Cheers and thanks,
Barney

call them, they may just not be set up to take international orders online but you might be able to butter them up on the phone and request USPS shipping at the same time

what about eurotech?
hmmmm

I actually know a guy from Langley BC that has a drawer full of various hand knurling tools. I was going to buy em all but have what I need.
he's a member here so when he gets back from moose hunting i'll nudge him and tell him to message you if he still wants a sale.
they are quality, but old, hand knurling units, perfect for barrel bosses

Hi Barney.
Here's an Eagle Rock from Canada.

Cost as much as a new Norc... Plus comes with straight pattern knurls so you need to add more $ for three rolls in the pitch and pattern you want. I'm not familiar with the three roll type. I'm Guessing you need to use a set of 3 male rolls to get the common diamond pattern with this tool. The two wheel pinch or push type can use a left and a right wheel to form the diamond pattern.

How well would a pipe cutter work for this? Run 4 or 5 lines around it?

Tony mentions an Eagle Rock Technologies knurling tool in this video. Item no. K1-207-10 is the KnurlMaster Standard Kit and is listed at $149.50 at PennToolCo.

32 people seem to be watching this Travers part on Ebay. Search "TTC Quick Acting Clamp Type Knurling Tool - KNURLS SIZE: 3/4"x3/8"x1/4"." I can't speak of the quality or efficacy of this part but it is a Travers product. Good luck.

PennTool is where I bought mine... It really cost $147.00 but UPS fzcked up and I was working in the basement when they came by to "discover" nobody was home.

I got an email from PennTool in New Jersey that since nobody was home, I needed to suggest an alternate way to ship. I asked for another attempt but this time with US Postal Service and CPostC. Easy peasy, but I had to pay for the shipping twice out of this experience. OUCH!

I've been taking that knurler to the past couple of M14 clinics. In Kingston we did things the old school way.... hammer and center punch...

cheers and keep on helping them nooobs out there!
