Well as the season creeps up on us. I am thinking about a scabbard for my Benelli. I realize that the "regs" say the gun must be encased but I was wondering if this scabbard "pushes" the envelope. Any comment or opinions, whether they be armchair or expert?

My buddy is a CO and he says firearm must be enclosed on all 6 sides. That is how he enforce the regulation. If you put a cover on it, than it is ok. You could also put it in a gun sock than stick it into the scabbard.

You need to have the gun fully encased to be within the law in Ontario. Mind you this is up to the CO, if you know the guy you will probably be fine, if he is a jerk than you better have a gun sock as the minimum until legal shooting time and after 7pm.

Look on the bright side, if you cant use a scabbard, buy a nice cushy soft sided case, and sit your ass on it when you take your gun out.

It makes the ground comfier, and keeps your ass dry and warm.
Koplin makes a few that fir the bill nicely IMHO. (I know, I've got a few ;))
