Need your help. Anyone have a pic of an original ZG47 buttplate they can show me? Suspect the one on my 1957 ZG47 isnt right as it doesnt fit well. Besides it's cracked/repaired. Couldnt find any pics on the 'net.
Thanks

longbranch: It is common for BRNO buttplates to be slightly smallr than the surrounding wood. Contact Noel on this site who knows of a place to get replicas either from open stock or made to match an original.

Longbranch, my ZG had a pad added if I recall right so I'm not much help. If you check with gungrips dot com they might be able to help you. I have bought from them before and was happy with the results but have not gotten a plate for a Brno from them. I made a replacement of steel and leather since a plastic plate does not last long with a clutz.
Nechako is one fellow here who has a real nice ZG, I think it may have the plate still. That's the best I can offer.

All three of my Brnos had butt plates that were too small. Mine are models 21 and 22, they might not fit but I have one if you need one. PM me.

My ZG doesn't have the original pad either. As far as I know, they were just a simple checkered plastic thing.

I can take a better photo of the one on my 21H if you want. This is the only shot I have right now that sort of shows it.

Aha, so you are still checking up on us. Haven't seen you in a while.

The plate on your 8x57 is pristine and would be a great candidate for sending to a repro guy for him to make copies for the rest of us.

So are you still in school or have you got that sucker bedded and loaded for spring bear?

Yep, I'm still here. :D

I'm working, but she has stayed a safe queen so far. Ongoing issues with my wrist have kept me from shooting anything that doesn't have a pistol grip and very little recoil.

Does anybody know if the ZG-47 and 21H used the same pad?

Thanks for replies fella's. I'll post some pics of the plate that's currently on my ZG later today. I'll also try your idea of seeing if the plate from my 22H fits.

I don't have a pic handy, but the butt plate is black plastic with lines "milled" in the space between the screws, running horizontally. it is ever so slightly smaller than the wood.

Brno plates

Ok here's some pics of what I have. The left one is my 22H. The right one is my ZG47. I tried fitting the 22H on the ZG and doesnt really fit. ZG seems to have more concave shaped butt end and would likely crack if screwed it down. Seems to me the ZG47 had it's own specific plate.

Here's pics of my three Brno's. The 22H was in Kenya from 1951 until early 70's. All are 7X57.

Thanks for all suggestions so far.

The pic by Longbranch is correct in that the 21H plate is correct,
The ZG looks correct but for the "channel" cut around the upper screw. It should look like the bottom part of that plate. "solid' in the upper and lower quarter with lines in the middle half.

An with many of the 21 or ZG the plate is slightly undersized - never figured out why ....

My ZG 47 is also missing the correct butt plate. I have done some research into a repro but no luck so far. Is there a company that would make a small batch, based on an original, and how costly would it be?

Buddy at gungrips dot com said he'd do them up for us if we had an original to supply him with to make a casting. Challenge is finding one that the guy will send to him.

Zg47

A buddy had a bag of over 50 various buttplates he let me rumage through and I found one that fit perfectly. No idea what it's from, but I'm thrilled. Still like to see an original example for comparison sake. I even got a second for a spare.
Cheers
Geoff

I was looking at the NECG website and they sell a butt plate that looks the same for $11.
