Hey guys. I am buying a holster and looking at IPSC rigs that hold the trigger guard for my HK USP Match in 9mm. I thought I found a couple when I was told by Murray in BC that the CR Speed for the HK USP might not work with my HK USP Match.

My main concern had been that the sheer length of the Match with the longer barrel and weight might be too long for the nose carrier, but apparently he had someone with the HK USP Expert that had trouble with the guard being different and not fitting. I thought the Expert and Match were very similar in length so I used that as an example as he didn't know what the Match was.

I thought the trigger guard on the USP Match was the same as the regular USP, USP Tactical, USP Expert, etc. Am I wrong?? My Match does have a SA/DA trigger, so could it be that when it is cocked the holster might interfer with the trigger itself and not the guard?? Maybe it's the weight that causes the problem?? It sticks into the trigger guard a bit. The barrel is 6.02" and the overall length is 9.45". See picture below.

Someone please clue me in here.

The trigger guard is the same on all USP models (except the compact). The Expert is a little shorter than the match. The USP Elite is about the same length as the match.

Weight system

Hi Uncle Walther. Thanks for the info. So then it may be the barrel weight coming into the guard that might be an issue as the CR Speed Holster and Speedsec 5 Holster attach to the guard I think??

Yes, the barrel weight could pose a problem, if you have a holster specifically modelled on the Elite or the Expert. Both the Expert and the Elite have a more contoured muzzle than than the Match.

I have never owned both at the same time, so I can't offer a really accurate comparison.

That may be a problem with the barrel weight coming into contact with the front of the holster (Speedsec). The CR speed will not work at all with that set up. The trigger guards are all the same except for the compact.

If I understand right from Uncle Walther, the USP Match is not the same trigger guard as a an Expert. I was mistaken. It is the same as all other USPs right uncle Walther?

The holsters in question are designed for the USPs, but not the compacts or similar smaller guards. The weight does appear to be a problem though as it comes below the juntion of the slide/frame.

i'm pretty sure the USP frames for a given calibre is all the same, the difference is /w the slide design and barrel length (USP MK23 excluded)

No, the 45 frame is thicker and longer than the USP 9 and 40 frames.

With the match weight on the end of the barrel you are going to struggle to find a holster. You may want to look for a holster specifically designed for the Match because besides the barrel weight, part of the trigger guard is obscured as well.

Hi Riflman,

The trigger guard on the Expert and Match is identical, in 9mm. But, as you know, the barrel weight overlaps the trigger guard on the Match. So, for holstering purposes, the trigger guard area is not the same. Moreover, the muzzle size is different on the two guns.

Try the HK Pro forums:

Those dudes should be able to tell you where to find a proper holster for the USP Match.

sorry that's what i meant...

all the 9mm share the same frame
all the 40cal guns share the same frame (which is ALSO same as the 9mm one)
all the 45 share the same frame (except the MK23)

as for holster the only holster that i have found to fit my USP Match is the HSGI drop leg holster from Farmboy, and the dropleg holster from TigerTactical

I checked into this; the frame for USP's in 9mm, .40, and .45 should all be the same width around the trigger guard. what is different is that the .45 is .23 inches longer, .20 inches higher, and has a .22 inch longer sight radius.

A atribute this to the slide and it's components. Mark 23 is different in all dimensions. Much larger
