Hey Guys,
Any Grouse out there this year ? :?
Last year was Very Disapointing and with this years wet spring, any point in going out ?
Possibly the $21.00 lisence fee would be better invested in a case of Lucky and talk about past hunts ? 8)
Whatdaya think ?

I hunted Sandilands lots last year and saw maybe 5 birds.
Pretty depressing. Walked for miles and miles too.

Sad thing is.....where I live we have half a dozen juicy plump grouse who live on our property and they strut around like they own the place. Legally, I could hunt them BUT the wife is a bird lover and she's even named them and has forbid them from becoming supper!

went for a walk the other day in an area where normally I'd lift more than a few....and there was only 1. pretty slim pickins

Went out this weekend, was messing around at the camp choppin' wood. Decided to go and grab a few easy grouse. Walked a trail where I would religiously flush 8-12 birds not a darn thing.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!

So the sandilands is hopping with chickens?

One of my favorite things to do when out hunting was to stop at the Salisbury House restaurant on the Hwy 1 East at Deacons Corner.
Now its a stupid A+W!

Chickens

I was in Sandilands with my daughter on opening day, and only saw one, driving in. Not to much ground sign of them either, but there was alot of leaves yet and too warm. Give them abit of frost and they will come out to the trails soon.

How are the reports now? While deer hunting I saw 2 in trees, and while grouse hunting I saw 3 along a PTH, and have only flushed 4 in the bush. Only got away one shot and missed. So I haven't killed a single grouse this year. Mind you, I haven't really gone out like in the past, but reports sound pitiful. I really shouldn't kill any this fall and just let them breed for next year.

Just got back from hunting deer by Roblin, MB and only saw one grouse and it was roosting up in a tree. It's real sad. I remeber hunting with my dad and uncle and getting our limit all the time. Those days seem to be gone unless they start doing more about the coyote population.

The coyotes are eating everything. You're lucky if you even see a rabbit.
