ATTN Smith and Wesson Handgun Owners (Recent NEW Purchases)

Good Luck.
I sent in mine after talking to the SW tech line, they said i could get one. I recieved my app back stating "Offer is valid in only those states in U.S.A. where it is not prohibited, taxed or restricted by law." I called again and this time asked for the department that took care of this offer, she said ONLY USA not Canada.

Greg IS the greatest

Thanks Greg for the heads up. I just bought a new 686 and have printed the form from your post.
All the best,
Mike

Only in the States boys. When I got my Performance Center 500 S&W, I called, they said yep, mail in the coupon for the free binos. They mailed the form back with only in the states portion highlighted in marker. So much for the customer people talking to the promotional people:(

I was told quite specifically that Canada was included.

Me too. Sent in my apps some time ago. No notification I don't qualify yet, but no bag yet either. I bet I get the notice of USA only in my mail box any day........

read the bottom of the ad, usa only.

I assume you're referring to this statement ?

"Offer is valid in only those states in U.S.A. where it is not prohibited, taxed or restricted by law."

That statement does NOT mean Canada is necessarily excluded, just that there may be American states where the offer is prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. They should honor the offer.

I think at the very least we should send a letter to a specific official of S&W who is in an Exec Board position letting them know what we think of this. Anyone know of a higher up the chain person we could appeal to? If it's a matter of extra postage for the item I'd be willing to pay. I try to support Canada and US manufacturers in a spirit of North American solidarity whenever possible but this BS has got me thinking about alternatives. It's not really even about the freebie (after a grand for a 686 believe me it ain't free) it's about being disrespected and not having any real explanation on their website of why other countries aren't included. It often seems that anyone other than a US citizen is not even recognized as existing. I think I'll post this in a few US forums as well. I'm not angry, just disappointed.

Oh man! I was so happy to see that I get a chance to get something like this for free, and now it might not apply to Canadians. This is upsetting indeed! I thought about sending it WA state, but they'll know somethings up if the invoice has a Canadian dealer and a Canadian address on it.
